New Scanguage -- a few data ?'s

Installed Fri and it works perfectly.

Got it to primarily monitor the 12v battery and engine temps related to grill blocking. Secondary reasons include trouble codes and improving mileage via driving techniques which are not the subjects of this thread.

Grill blocking <--> engine coolant temps. Coolant temp I've read is also a loose proxy for inverter temp. Reading suggests that a reasonable/target range could be approx 170-195* with short duration spikes to 205* or so. Is this reasonable?? I've grill blocked for 3 yrs with good results. 1st two long runs with current block gave WT at 184-188*.

12v Battery Ops. 2 yrs ago we fried one by leaving lights on for well over an hour + radio. Sad to say it's spouse's car and it's mostly for very short hops with lights on. Readings 14.1 - 14.3v while driving and 12.2 - 12.4v during the 12 seconds SG is shutting down. My question/guess is that these are good and that voltage readings a point lower for either is cause for charging or further study??

Will try Xguages in a few days ... any other guages recommended for either grill blocking or the 12v on our Gen 2.

The loose proxy thought is related to what I recall is that the Inverter temp(as is engine temp) is related to ambient air temp and possibly speed (work).... +30* or so over ambient normally. My limited deduction ability and limited knowledge suspected that at high ambient (say +110 or so) and high speed (workload) the Inverter might be at some risk ... tho this is a well thought out critter and that may not be so.
Recall that some years ago a PC'r in Olympia WA ran blocked to 205 or so without even the fan coming on ... in any case this would be for short durations only ... 10 min or so max.

Understand your point but thought speed increased the temp at least at cool conventional temps and speeds ... will check it.

Unless the temp is under 20(seldom) I do not close the skinny vents at the top and bottom and also leave 2-3 inch gaps on all the driver side blocks.
Gen 2 inverter at bottom, recall for Gen 3 it is near the top.

We've got a trip planned thru the SW desert including, Death Valley, in a few months ... so monitoring all temps is important to us. We never drive over about 65 mph and go slower when temp among other things are issues.

 

Recall done about 2 months ago.
