Tonight I FINALLY got my Package 6, Black Prius. It looks so nice with its tinted windows, makes up for the fact that it will be a pain in my butt to keep clean. Averaged 52.7 mpg on the way home from the dealership, a nice contrast from my H2's 10mpg. That thing is GONE soon, thank god.

So glad to finally be a part of the Prius clan! As hyped as I was to get it, it really has managed to exceed my extremely high expectations.

EDIT: Ended up paying $750 under MSRP with Tinted windows, bumper protector, carpet mats, and mudguards included, with no waiting list. Charlotte, NC. (This is probably due to the fact that we've purchased 3 cars now from the same guy.)

It's nice to hear that you found a decent dealer, and had a very good buying experience. I see you got the starship enterprise package as well :).

I have a friend in Utah due to take delivery today of his Prius. I keep coming back to the idea that he only needs to drive it about 23,000 miles by the end of the year to override that tax credit he passed up.

Am I wrong on the numbers, or could every person actually rent a car for the next 2 months and still come out ahead by waiting till 1/1 to take delivery?

With the way my dad purchased the car, which involved our family corporation and numerous other factors, it turned out the difference in tax credit was not going to be much of a difference (less than the difference in MSRP), AND we would have had to wait a bit to get one next year, when we could pretty much skip the line for this year because of our good standing with the dealership. Technically though, depending on how much you drive, you could save that much money anyways though.
