    U.S. clears Toyota's electronic throttles | Reuters

"A U.S. government investigation showed no link between electronic throttles and unintended acceleration in Toyota Motor Corp vehicles..."

    No surprise here.

The NASA Engineers results were also included, and the Report states what pretty much all of us already knew...."OPERATOR MALFUNCTION", closely followed by "Ambulance Chasers".

This is great news, I imagine all the trolls and haters here will respect the studies conclusions and quietly go away... NAH! They'll scream how flawed it is and point to dozens of bogus claims and reports that "prove" the Toyota's are death machines from the future sent to kill us all! Besides, they've already moved onto engine knocking!:p

Tells us something we knew all along.

Out of all the millins of Toyotas in the world, the only ones with unintended acceleration were in the USA. Hmmm, why was that? Could it be the litigious, blame someone else for my stupidity, no win no fee culture?

During last weekend's SuperBowl telecast, the only local advertisers in my market who bought spots were these folks. My favorite line: "Have you or a loved one been killed or seriously injured on the job?" No joke.

    Rest easy Haters.

As long as there are feet, idiots, and accelerator pedals there will be "unintended acceleration".

I'm glad that this "non-news" is getting some media coverage. Anyone care to guess if Murdoch publications will see fit to print what amounts to a retraction ?

How about it, CR ? I sent this letter to the editor as a subscriber, and I think it would help if others wrote CR too:

I already read a forum post on a LA Times article disputing the report because (to paraphrase): NASA only has aerospace engineers who are not qualified to evaluate automotive technology.

In some people's minds, there is no person or organization qualified to override their preconceptions or biases.

Couldn't have said it any better.....

The biggest defect with automobiles, is the inherent human ability to make mistakes. This is one reason why it's safer to fly than to drive. That and the extensive training most pilots have to go through in order to be granted a pilot's license. Wish we could require that for drivers!

What happened to that guy in CA who had the trooper get in front of him to slow him down? Was he already proven to be a fraud? The cop said he could smell the brakes cookin' and the guy's Prius was still pushing against his car.

I'm a one-foot driver. I would have thought Toyota would give the brake pedal priority when it and the accelerator were simultaneously pressed; i.e., brakes only if in doubt.

+1 Predatory advertising lawyers...I could rant and rant and rant. Thankfully Toyota can put some of this U.S. crap behind them.

"That guy" was James Sikes, and he was already shown to be "somewhat" dishonest. As in numerous home insurance claims etc.

In -any generation Prius- if you press the accelerator more than about 1/2 way and then press the brake pedal the engine will go to idle. Try it!

But, if you want to prove how (word deleted due to my nice nature) you are, you can still "cook" the brakes by accelerating, then braking, then accelerating, etc. till you smell "something burning". Then you blame the manufacturer for shoddy construction!

CR? Looking here: [ame=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_News_Corporation]List of assets owned by News Corporation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
I could not find any publication that could be abbreviated to CR.

Perhaps you mean Consumer Reports? Most definitely not owned by Rupert Murdoch.

Sorry I was unclear. Murdoch publications was one target of mine, Consumer Reports another. I did not mean to link them in any way, other than jumping the gun and publishing hearsay and FUD.

This is a perfect example of how the media judge things and bias the [uneducated, unopen-minded, unscientific] public opinion before any investigative research has been performed.

The saddest part is the the people up in Washington that are *supposed* to be the "smart" people (Republic) listened to the media and got all hyped up and irrational.
