It's -28C today, and I drove my 2009 Prius 50 kilomters without the dashboard display lighting or my cruise working. Checked fuse, and it was ok, no loose connections, etc. Dash began working when temperature hit -25. Here in Manitoba, it's -25 or lower about 35 days per year, and, until today, the only problem has been sluggish fuel injection when trying to pass at 100 kph on really cold days. Is there a known solution to this issue? Other than that, this car had been fantastic (even better than my 2000 Echo which I gave away when it hit 500,000 km and was still running great. Maybe I am just lucky, but, overall, my Toyotas (and my kids' Toyotas) have been excellent vehicles.

The known solution is to replace the combination meter. If you do a search you will find numerous posts on that issue. Also, a member has recently offered a repair service for that, if you can remove the combination meter and send to him.

Thanks. I'll take the car in to our local dealer. They've been great to deal with, and I'm not keen on squeezing in under the dash in this weather.

I hope that your 3 year / 36K mile comprehensive warranty (or the Canadian warranty equivalent) remains in effect. If not the MSRP of a new combination meter is ~US$370 plus labor.

Ouch! We hit 101,000 km last week (62,000 miles).
