Just picked up an 11 and so far so good (20 miles :p). I look forward to driving past "my" gas station without stopping once a week to drop $80.
Anyhow, I have a feeling that I am going to see a ton of more road side details on my way home from work...

    Congrats and welcome!

If you get really hung on MPG numbers you may find yourself taking country roads so that you can drive slower and get even better MPG. That's when you start seeing really cool things on the side of the road and driving becomes much more enjoyable. :)

Thank you for the warm welcome. We have snow on the ground and I was terrified of coming up several hills and some very steep descents last night.

Prius came UP and went DOWN without drama, only concern was the mid-90's gigantic Bronco in back of me sliding all over the place

I must say that I am soooo happy to have picked up this little guy! I've been getting about 42 mpg but look forward to learning how to drive this thing.

Congrats to Newslow! I purchased my wife a prius last Monday. We traded in her 2006 mustang GT. :) She misses it some on the weekend, but is really enjoying her Prius. She is almost through a full tank and averaging 47mpg according to the dash. She won't let me drive it at all! I like watching the ECO meter and trying to maximize MPG. Now if I can just sneak the keys from her!

It's a smaller tank, so you may still have to stop as often, just pay a lot less.
$80/3.20 = 25 gallon tank on previous vehicle, assume 18 mpg = 450 miles between fill-ups. 450 miles is about right for a full tank on the Prius too, but it only costs $30. If you have the habit of washing your windows when you stop for gas, now you find you have to wash them faster if you want to be done before the pump is done!

Huh. We never said that. We said things like, "I made it back from Ruidoso in less than 5 hours (400 miles)", or, "Race you to the top of Sun Spot!"

I pick up my 2010 Winter Grey III tomorrow night. We bought it Friday, and I can't wait to drive it. My fiancée and priuscritter managed to convince me on a Prius vs. an Impreza WRX. I have a feeling that I'll be watching the ECO meter and squeezing every last mpg out of it.

Another 100 miles and still smiling. I had a 10 WRX for 2 weeks...yes, brand new for 2 weeks . Anyhow, I change cars often but I love my Prius (but it's only been 2 days...so, a big "hmmm"). Anyhow, you'll love it, I also have the winter grey III.
My mileage so far has been around 40 so I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. The Prius replaced an X5 so anything is better than the average of 16 to 17 mpg....
This seems like a nice forum...I think that I'll hang out for awhile.

I don't have an X5 but I really like that car, performance wise.

It would take some adjustment on your part coming from an X5 to get your 50's on the Prius...

It doesn't have to take long. I went from a Corvette, 11sec Trans Am and 800hp 4x4 to a Prius. It didn't take long for me to get into the 50s. You just have to want it. lol :D

Welcome to the Prius world. I purchased my first Prius last November and I love it. I have almost 3,000 miles on her now and every tank gets better mileage. I got 52.4 with the last tank and filled up in South Seattle. When I got home, 57 miles, the dash said 64.2 mpg. I know it won't hold for the whole tank and I expect low 50's overall but 64.2 sure looks good!

Sure is nice to go almost 500 miles and still have to put in less than 10 gallons. As a side note the miles to go was below zero, gas gauge was blinking, and I still had 2.5 gallons left in the tank. The Prius is a very good car but it's not perfect.

Welcome! So is that "40" calculated or what the CONS says? Either way, it takes awhile to get the hang of driving a hybrid. You'll experiment with P&G and notice seasonal changes in mileage. Also, your new car will improve with MPG as you put more miles on it. I started seeing better mileage after about 5000 miles.

Oh, and if you notice other drivers whizzing by you, it's common to all Prii - you will get used to it. I find it funny now to catch up to them at the next stoplight!

Hello everyone. I'm just gathering here with some other noobies to the Prius. Got my 2011 2 three weeks ago. Been lurking around here to get a gauge of the board. I agree with looking forward to passing the gas stations. Have my fellow noobies here been playing with the driving modes like I have? I have searched on this yet but I currently have been getting better mileage whilst using the Power mode. Seems contradictory to me but I'll take it since it's a lot more fun to drive that way. I have more testing to perform before I figure this one out. In a great many ways I feel like I'm learning to drive this car unlike any other new cars where I just drove them.

I came from a Scion xB avg mpg of 25 and prior to that an SUV avg mpg of 16. I no longer pay close attention to the price of oil on the news 'cause I don't need to. WOOHOO!
