    I think the key to your question is using the word "Today".

    Everyone wants their purchase to be the "best deal ever". Since oddly, auto ownership is one largest and one of the few purchases we still connect with a Camel Traders approach, this creates a lot of angst for potential purchasers.

    What I would say, is how important is it that you get the deal done? How important is it that you get it today?

    Because I'd say it clearly is a "fair" deal, even if it isn't absolutely the best deal you possibly could find...

    You've already been presented with posts where people in other regions have found better deals...and worse....

    But to me? Once you know a general range? Then it becomes how badly do you want it? How much are you willing to sacrifice in further research, potential travel, to save perhaps "X" amount of dollars....????

    Fair vs. Fantastic? How much is it worth to you? Only YOU can answer that for yourself.

    The technique of E-Mailing several dealers asking for the lowest Out The Door Price, seems a relatively easy way to get feedback on what the usual OTD price in an area or region might be...and perhaps create a good deal.

    But at some point.....you just have to pull the trigger.....

    I'm seeing some amazing discounts on 2011's making my jaw drop. Maybe you should fly down to CA and buy your car and drive back. I think you'd make your money back on air fare and gas.

    Plus buying in CA you get a 150,000 mile warranty on your battery.

    Definitely makes me wish I had waited until now to buy.

    Build & price your car at www.aaa.com then get up to 3 dealer quotes. The 2010 inventory is only going to decrease. 2011's are at invoice around here. As said earlier, if you found your color at a fair price what more do you want?

    I'm now the latest owner of a Prius! :) Thanks for the words of encouragement..it was just what I needed to hear prior to making such a big purchase (paid cash)..I had a bit of anxiety about spending nearly my life's savings, but I'm already in love!

    The breakdown:

    2010 Prius II - Winter Grey w/floor mats, cargo mat, rear bumper applique
    Listed Price=$22,372 ($500 below invoice)
    Instant Rebate=$1,000
    Purchase Price=$21,372

    Document Fee=$35 (talked down from $100)
    Title/Registration=$103
    Tax=$2126 (9.5% here in WA!)

    OTD=$23,636

    Car had 11 miles on it when I bought it. I added about 60 or so on my drive home. Averaged 49 MPG despite cruising at about 75MPH.

    Pics to come soon! A serious THANK YOU to all who've helped make this decision a great one. I'm happy to be a part of the Prius family and looking forward to many adventures out on the road! Happy trails!

    why wouldn't you want to announce the name of a great dealer? we bash them by name, ought to give them their due as well.

    Congrats on your new Prius! Be sure to read your owner's manual carefully, even though you are familiar with the car. There's lots to learn about your new technology.

    My car was shipped from Toyota Direct in Columbus to Airport Toyota in Dayton/Vandalia. I could have gone to Columbus but the dealer in Dayton met my needs to my satisfaction.

    Is this standard? I just bought mine but I went thru a car broker and didn't get any info on this. Is this an extra charge?
