That is interesting. The production cars can't be the ones your seeing as toyota is not producing them yet, and the whisper date is far off at June 2012, for first NA shipment. The demonstration vehicles could be changing hands and moving to a different customer in LA, or out of your area. I wonder if anyone knows who lost the prii and who will be now testing the demonstration fleet.

It will be interesting to see in 2012 whether GM is making 4000 or 10000 volts a month. That is also the year GM is claiming they will be at-pzev, which begs the question if there will be major engine changes or just minor ones in the emission controls.

volt......when it was first introduced, it was supposed to be offered in the low $20k,,,,,then as time went by, it was up to $30k....now out the door, they are over $40k.....putting it out of reach of the average household.... i like the concept, sorta like the diesel locomotives,,,,,electric motor powered by diesel engines..... if the volt had a small diesel powering the electrics, it would be even more desirable....
i am disappointed that my prius can't go any distance on ev only....who wants to drive 20mph ...i hope eventually we can get batteries and electronics to allow us to drive 20 or more miles on ev only....

Interesting? It will be astounding. It will be incredable AND amazing. Actually making a pzev volt would be the 1st thing GM actually does, that they said they'll do. Lookin' forward to that -

A bit premature to compare Prius/Volt numbers. Let's wait until GM has production fully ramped up.

That said, I don't think the Volt has a chance at getting to Prius numbers until they get to the 2nd gen with a lower price. By then, the Prius PHEV will be released so that may be a better comparison, anyway.

Yup, that just shows how late GM came into the game. 10 years behind requires a lot of catch up to do. I'll be interested to see next month sales.

PHV Prius, Prius v and Prius C will be joining the family to change the game. I wonder if the Volt will be stuck with a single corded configuration.

Volt on ebay are not selling. The listings come and go without successful sales. Yes, they are charging premium over MSRP but that just shows the demand is not as high as Prius back in 2004-2007.

You are also dealing with a car in a completely different price range.

$25-$30k is a lot different from $45k (even if you account for the $7.5k tax credit).

Would be interesting to see how sales volume changes depending on the price bracket...

i've seen a couple volts on the road... it's small.. looks cramped. i still think it's funny since it's a recycled entry level car (the name lapse me currently at 3am)

something about the coloring will always set it apart from cars... people will eventually be like "that's so 2010/2011"... just one of those things... (i tend to look at it as an 80's 90's coloring scheme)

i like the car.. i'm not bashing it or anything.. it just seems like an odd product placement. shrug.. ( i think it should have been released as a cadillac for it's refinement)

There are 500 Prius plug-ins on the road for beta testing right now. Last I checked, 500 was more than 326. GM is using its Volt purchasers as beta testers. Good luck with that.

Prius doesn't need a plug to get great MPG. Volt needs a plug to boost it's 37 MPG.

PHV Prius is already certified as eAT-PZEV. This is something Volt is catching up to be ready in 2012. That's when both eAT-PZEV models will go on sale.

I'm getting tired of all of these acronyms. First it was LEV, then ULEV, then SULEV, then PZEV.. I don't even know what eAT-PZEV stands for. Why can't we just come up with a numbering system that makes it easier to understand and compare two different vehicles emissions?
