To Quote John Candy from "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles"... with a little compound that should buff right out!

Good luck getting your baby fixed.

I would keep hunting on the estimates. Based on dealing with those before I would guess is it should be under $2K but more than $1K. I would not use insurance for that or they will hose you. I would get a half dozen estimates.

Back in 2008 our 06 Prius was hit in the right rear.
It was the quarter, right rear door and sill that all had to be replaced/fixed.
I had a new door put on instead of getting a reskin or fixing the original.
Total cost was $2500 out the door.
This was a whole new rear door, quarter panel fix and the sill fixed. They also had to dip into the front door and the trunk to blend it all in.
It's been almost 3 years and you can't tell anything ever happened.
I think for the quote you got, it's really high. Keep looking around. Don't get the cheapest either though.

I would personally start by putting some Zymol cleaner wax on, that will take most of what you see away. Then see what you get left with. If you think it's clean then just touch it up with some paint.
If not, take it into get fixed at that point.
