No Starbucks, as I detest coffee. And no NPR either. We take along the mp3 player and listen to that.

Coffee: Almost never. Once in a while at work since they provide decent free coffee.

I'll paraphrase how I heard Starbucks summed up by an owner of another coffee shop (actually it was someone being interviewed on NPR who said it): "We're not concerned about them. We're not in direct competition with Starbucks because we're in the coffee business and they're in the milk business." I laughed pretty hard at that. I wonder if, by volume, they really do sell more milk than coffee with all those lattes!

And chalk me up in the "NPR or iPod" column. Basically I don't listen to music on the radio because I hate radio DJs and radio advertisements. I also turn off NPR and turn on the iPod during fund drives :D

Starbucks: Made right at home with a Starbucks Barista machine.

NPR: No! We are totally AIR AMERICA Radio fans here.

Guilty as charged on both counts of NPR and Starbucks.

Skull and crossbones: good idea..... Dang, Star Trek (and thus rename the car) theme or pirate theme? So many choices! Must think about this..... *thinks*

NPR? Blech... too left wing for me.

Starbucks? On occasion. However, I prefer local shops or home steeped stuff.

    Hi All,

No to Starbucks. Never ever been in one. Not a coffee drinker. More of a chocoholic. Plenty of caffiene for me in chocalate.

Listen to Click and Clack mostly on NPR - good kitchen cleaning background. Sometimes the shows that follow if I have time on Saturday morning. Especially the Rock Music Ratings show. Rarely in the car. Mostly music and traffic reports there.

Listen to Ira Flatow's Talk-of-the-Nation Science Fridays on NPR internet, too. Very little good science and technology at the adult level shows on free media these days. Except for Ira and Nova.

Oh, and DRM on Shortwave. Recently converted an older ham transciever so it can receive DRM when its hooked to the computer here. That is a digital radio system here that uses modulation similar to the european HDTV, but at lower data rates to overcome ionospheric distortion. Can't wait for some decent band conditions - its the dip in the sun-spots now. Although, Radio Vatican has a suprisingly consistant signal all the way from Rome at 14 kilobits per second, actually more consistant than the rebroadcast from Nova Scotia by Radio Canada International at 17 kbs. Radio New Zealand is solid when 13 MHz is just a little up, too. Since there are so many hams on here, I though I would add this last paragraph.

NPR yes, and Starbucks sometimes. I prefer local coffee outlets, though. I also listen to the BBC on Sirius.

NPR yes. Along with a lot of podcasts and audiobooks.

Like Starbucks, Caribou and the locals. However, my favorite is directly imported Kauai coffee.

Yes to NPR. Starbucks is overpriced. I make my own coffee. I consider Starbucks a bizarre pop consumer phenomenon that just doesn't make sense 99% of the time, like bottled water. :)

Starbucks = YES! Begs the question why my prius seats 5 with only 4 cupholders where I have had Ford trucks that seat 5 with ~8 cupholders.

NPR = No. National Peoples Radio isnt for me.

Parking Next to Prius = Yes.

I don't go out of my way to park by other Prii, I listen to NPR and I wouldn't step foot in Starbucks. They've destroyed a lot of good mom and pop businesses and they only started using "Fair Trade" coffee (very limited) after consumer complaints. I see them in the same vane as WalMart.

Why in the hell would someone resurrect this old thread? Did you seriously do a search for Starbucks?
