    Hi All,
I'm new here, but have been reading as much as I can.

I'm about to pick up a 2006 Prius with 49k miles tomorrow. Is there anything I should remember to ask for that isn't obvious? My first hybrid so I'm not sure what else is important besides the Owner's Manual.

Any help or advice would be great! Thanks

Make sure you get two key fobs. They are expensive to replace.

There is a procedure to check the 12V battery. It is almost time to change it for the 2006 model. If the voltage is low, you can use it as a bargaining chip.

If it comes with wheel locks, make sure you have the key nut.

Check the spare tire. It is easy to assume it is in perfect condition. Also check and make sure it comes with the jack under the cargo area.

I gather it's too late to have the car inspected by a Toyota mechanic...

If the seller doesn't give you the correct year's Owner's Manual, buy a copy from a dealer's parts desk.

If you don't get a copy of Toyota's Scheduled Maintenance Guide, see here:

Thank Richard. I got the car checked out by a local dealer and everything seemed fine. Also got a vehicle history printout which makes me feel better.

USB, I tried to check the battery from the instructions on your link, but when I press Display, I get options to change the contrast or brightness. I'll try checking it via the headlights later.

    Thanks all!
