Here is my deal from a Phx. Dealer. We did the E-Mail negotiating thing for an OTD price. In the end there were only two dealers left out of nine. Not sure how good it is but they met our terms so we are happy. It is in port and they say it will be here by Friday. Looking forward to it!

BTW - If it is a horrible deal and you know it please tell us. Since we haven't taken delivery we can get out at anytime.
    2011 - Prius Two (Mats & Applique)
    Price of Vehicle - $22,120.58
    Sales Tax - $1,979.79 (8.95%)
    Tire Tax - $5.00
    License Fees - $415.48
    Doc Fee - $449.89 (Ouch)
    Total - $24,970.74 (OTD)

We kept the $500 cash rebate out of the deal so that is coming to us.

    Welcome!

$25k out the door for a Prius II....Hmmm....Quite honestly, it doesn't seem like a bad deal but it's not a very good deal either. I think it's pretty average.

I saw a few San Diego dealers advertising from $20,900-21,900 in the newspaper, I have no idea how much out the door. Of course our sales tax is almost 10% !!!!!

sales tax here is 19% AND on top of that a special cartax
but for the prius that cartax ( called BPM ) is dropped ( until 2013? )
and then your stil not OTD
you get the car licende fees included in the "car delivery fees"
also for some reason NON metalic white you need to pay extra

TTL varies by state and should not be included. He paid about US$ 22,100 including rebate and doc fees. That is about 10% more than the lowest '2010 I have seen.

By the way, is there a delivery fee ? If that is included in OP's price then I say he did very well for himself.

Not sure what OP is but the only itemized fees are the ones that I posted. It did include the tint as well. And a few Diet Cokes. :D

Obviously the OTD price has gone up since the Government incentive have expired and the current gas price is not helping the buyers.

We started with 9 dealers that responded to our initial E-Mail and they knew it was a competitive process. Once we got those prices we took the lowest OTD price we had at that moment and sent it back out to all those but the current leading dealer. All but two (6 of them) dropped out saying that they could not beat it. We went to the two remaining dealerships with our offer in hand with all documentation. They both said that there was no way that that deal would get done and we should come back when we find out that the others were not truthful. The one dealer we wanted to buy from only had a Two model but it had Blu Logic. We offered to buy it if they matched the OTD price +the retail of the Blu Logic. They laughed, we walked.

In the end the at the dealership F&I manager tried to add the $500 back into the deal and get that profit. It was late, I was pissed that this guy who wasn't in on the deal tried to change it at the last second. We argued about the "meaning" of the e-mails and we walked. The next morning we woke to three calls with apologies, the E-mailing salesman, the one that helped us after the original one left, and the Internet Director who told us that if we came back in that they would honor the deal.

This is why I think we should feel good about the deal. It didn't seem like anybody wanted to touch this deal in the Valley of The Sun except for these guys and not until the next day.

I don't think it is a bad deal. I paid 22,800 (MSRP) a year and half ago. Their doc feel is outrageous though. Twice what I paid.

19%??? Wow! Nonmetallic White, I think that is the blizzard pearl and it is extra here and I think everywhere as well.

That's why we went with OTD pricing. I really don't care where they put their numbers and get money from as long as my OTD price is what I want. We also ran our own numbers long before taking the quotes so we could have a rough ideal of what a decent deal looked like. I don't mind them making money, they are a business but not the crap like adding back the $500. One of the dealers we went to told me that if he could use our Intrepid as a trade-in he could do it. He appraised it at $1000 and let me know that he was helping us out. He then tried to hide the $500 rebate. That's when the laughing started by all of us and we walked.
