I have a 2010 gen III with the upgraded audio system and I am getting a vibration coming from the right door speaker when there is a heavy base sound. The dealer replaced the speaker and the vibration is still there, this makes me think it is not the speaker but a part in the door panel that is vibrating.
    Has anyone else experienced this?
How difficult is the door panel to remove in order to determine where the problem may be?

I have a harmonic vibration coming from the right front door/dash area that seems connected to a specific rpm, but since my Prius doesn't have a tach, I can't tell what rpm is causing the vibration. My vibration seems to occur when I'm slightly accelerating and goes away if I stop accelerating. Mostly, I hear the vibration about 25-35 mph.

I'm wondering if my right front wheel well liner which is plastic is vibrating, causing the sound to appear to be coming from the inside right front dash/window area. From the driver seat, I hear the sound as if it's coming from around the dash by the triangular window.

The upshot for me is that I'm not going to do anything about unless it gets worse.

    Happy Motoring,

    Tom

I had a vibration in my Gen III as well. After spending some time in my car trying to track down the source of the noise I discovered it was coming from the trim that covers the front camera. I took down the trim and pun some padding in and the noise is now gone. I still get a little from the dash and a few other places but it's not nearly as bad. I plan to tear the interior apart this Spring and fix it more permanently.

Hey twittel! While installing my Engine block heater I took a look under the car and noticed the black plastic piece that is attached to the front spoiler was loose. So I got a socket wrench and stated tightening bolt and every bolt under the front of the car was VERY loose. So check it out. I can not imagine why it was like that, but ol'well.

I had the same issue with a vibration at a certain RPM. After several visits to the dealer, turned out it was a stabilizer bar from the front bumper that was resonating into the dash. Instead of having to take my dash apart, they removed the quarter panel(?) and welded the part that was vibrating. No more rattle.

twittel, I have the same exact vibration sound in my new 2011 Prius IV. I hear it in the same area you describe during spirited acceleration, right around 30 mph. Very light buzzing sound, i can only hear it if the radio is off, and it goes away cruising or driving slow. has it gotten any worse for you?

speedracer, i'll have to ask the dealer about the stabilizer bar thing at my first service if it doesn't get worse before.

    thanks
