Yep and it's possible that the computers were tuned for a more sporty drive even in normal mode (even on the Prius, the ECO mode is tuned differently depending on continent. It's most aggressive in NA and least aggressive in the Europe)

I saw a Utube Video by Edmunds that said the CT weighed 200 lbs more than the Prius...

Consumer Reports lists the Lexus as 15 lbs more.

The web sites for Lexus lists 3130 for the CT 200h and the CT 200h Premium; Toyota lists 3042 for all Prius versions 2 through 5. Hard to beleive all versions weigh exactly the same.

But a couple of hundred pounds would not effect gas mileage by more than 1 or 2 MPG anyway.

I think the big difference is the Cd, .29 for the Lexus and .25 for the Prius. This lists some other cars for comparison purposes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automobile_drag_coefficient#Typical_drag_coefficients

They don't. The reason why the weights aren't listed separately is because somehow the Prius "models" don't count as trim levels. If you look at other Toyotas, they will list the different weights depending on trim level and transmission type. If it's just one model with a whole bunch of packages (e.g. Yaris), it'll just list the weight of the base model.

    3,130 - 3,042 = 88 lbs isn't it?

I would have gotten screwed if I had waited for the CT200h instead of getting my Prius. I just looked and our Lexus dealer finally updated there website adding the CT. We can only get the equipment and options that they select here even if you were to order a car. They are not outfitting any of the CT's with any of the ATP features that I have on my Prius V w/ ATP. Even if they did have these options available the added cost of getting them on the CT and the decreased MPG would probably have led me to getting the Prius again if I had waited. On my Prius I could not get the SOS safety connect or the LKA, because it was not offered here. Here is a link to the SERVCO Lexus CT200h webpage for comparison for you all on the mainland and around the world.CT - pricing

I'm assuming the ship would go straight from Japan to Hawaii, right? Any idea why the options are limited?

Rybold, what dealership was it . . . Tustin?

It IS a slick looking hybrid. . . but the folks on the Lexus board are no where near as nice as the folks here on PC.

    ;)

Not really they bring in what they think they can and will sell. I don't think the Lexus dealer wants a bunch of optioned out entry level cars to sell to the few that could probably afford another model. Where as they can bring in and sell more of the less but still nicely equipped models. I am sure the ship does come straight here off loads and continues to the US west coast to off load there, what does the ship have to do with options? SERVCO is not a part of Toyota USA they are there own independent importer and distributor. If you want a new Toyota, Lexus, Scion, Subaru, Suzuki,or Hino and you plan on buying it in Hawaii and not importing it from the mainland you will have to buy it from them. I would say from what I have seen and heard they are closer to Toyota Japan then Toyota USA. The SOS Safety Connect may not be available here due to the network required to support it or because SERVCO would have to make a deal with Toyota USA or set up there own monitoring center. I asked why my Prius did not have the LKA as a part of the ATP and nobody could give me an answer besides thats just how it is.

Alright, so I called and swung by Magnussen Lexus in Fremont to sprinkle some holy water on the new CT200h.

Was eyeballing a pretty white CT I parked the coupe next to. It was a 'premium' trim which gives you the sunroof and heated seats in basic form. It had the 10 spkr audio and Nav and was $35,550 sticker.

So, I mosied (sp?) into the showroom and a nice blond lady offered to open up a silver one. First thing she did was open the hatch in back. First thought was, wow, that's quite a bit smaller than the Prius area behind 2nd row seats. Didn't say anything to spoil the festive mood though. So, I sit in the front and boy did those leather seats smell nice! Course I moved power seat back and down. Little bit less headroom than in my Accord Coupe. Don't think I could put 2 fingers between head and roof liner, but hey, I'm 6'2", this is a compact car. This one was just about fully loaded and $38,102 sticker.

Wow was it comfortable in the chair which slides back quite far. Nice dash and gages, sporty type console. She powered it up to show the nav screen pop up. I moved the mouse cursor around a bit. Wonder if that would be hard to use on the road. Doubt I'll be finding out anytime soon:) Nice little slot to put your iphone and the USB port is a couple inches away for your plugging in.

Sharp wheels. Definitely a compact. Must be within inches of the Audi A3. She did mention them bringing an A3 for the sales people to test drive as that is a big competitor.

So the battle is on Thai. We'll see how it goes.

Sorry haven't been here at all as of late. Dealers are getting the CT. A couple of weeks ago some dealers had special events to show customers.

They are unsure what exactly people want so there will be a mix of base and loaded cars.

What is not mentioned is you get the Lexus service, treatment that you cannot get at a Toyota dealership. You get a loaner car, etc compared to its Prius cousin.

The car won't be for everyone and the goal is only 12k units a year. The Prius sells that amount in a MONTH:cheer2::)

All Lexus wheels are 114.3x5 except the new LS 460/600h L.

This car is totally not comparable to a Matrix whose interior is wayyy downscale with a Corolla. Looks like a Mazda3 hatchback? OK, but Mazda and Lexus .... verrry different companies and dealer presence.

CR says Audi A3 gasoline does 0 to 60 in 7.3.

CR would find CT to do it in 10.3.

12k units a year should be about right.

TDI 0-60 in 8.9s... CT200h has around 30% better combined fuel economy., not too shabby :)

Ok, there's a turbo gas version which must require premium. that's the 7 sec car w/ 24 MPG comb.

    TDI at 34 MPG combined.

Diesel 30 or 40 cents more than 87.
