LED Headlamp Deflectors

    Can anyone help me please?
    I have just ordered a new Prius 10th Anniversary with LED Headlamps. I am travelling through Europe in April and need to add beam deflectors for the trip. I bought a set of "Eurolite" deflectors and they do not show instructions for Prius LED Headlamps.
    Any ideas or suggestions?:confused:

    OK lets see if I have this right, I am a naive American. You live in the UK so your head lights go \_ \_ the beam rises on the left to see the shoulder. In the rest of Europe they are like the US _/ _/ the beam rises on the right to see the shoulder. UK headlights would shine right at oncoming traffic here and in Europe. You are hoping for something to convert them so you do not have to buy a whole new lens for each side?

    Thanks for all the replies.
    1. The Prius is celebrating 10 years in the UK hence the special edition 10th Anniversary Model. Mine is black with black alloys and black leather.
    2. LED Headlights are an option to replace the standard halogen ones. They significantly improve visibility at night (obviously!!).
    3. Beam deflectors are self adhesive stickers that are fitted to the headlights to divert the beam pattern so us Brits can drive in Mainland Europe (spot on JimboPalmer). Obviously the USA doesn't have this issue so I am hoping for replies from other Brits on this point. Here's hoping because Toyota UK don't seem to know the answer!!

    Can the headlights themselves be adjusted enough to prevent shining onto oncoming traffic? If so they could be adjusted before the trip and then re-aligned when you return. Another naive American here, so please excuse my lack of knowledge...

    Hi beldred,

    I can't see any reason why the normal deflectors wouldn't work. whether the light source is a halogen lamp or an led it still goes through the same glass lens in the same basic headlight design.

    Shame on toyota for not knowing this, is it Marshalls by the showcase?

    Hi Flaninacupboard (can I call you Flan for short)?

    Normal Prius headlamps have a single projector so the normal beam deflectors work fine. The LEDs have two projectors and that is where the problem lies. No-one seems to know the answer. I have had a dealer in Cambridge (UK) offer to put the car on the MOT ramp and find the correct location for the stickers so the beams will be legal in Europe. Not sure I want to do this every time I go to France for the day!! Someone out there must have an answer!!!:confused:

    Why not let them do it the first time, so you'll know where they go. Or are these a pain to remove and reapply after the initial time? Maybe ask them to try to figure out a central point between the two areas, and apply these deflectors that way? I would imagine that as long as you get close, then it won't bother the oncoming drivers in either area too much. I'm sure it's much worse with older vehicles that have much more light scatter than the projectors on the Prius.

    By all means!

    I see, wasn't aware there was an additional projector. Would it be possible to stick two deflectors on? It really seems it should be possible to just program the headlamps to raise/lower as appropriate, but this would still require a trip to the dealer.

    My last car had a lever at the back of the headlamp assembly which allowed you to set it to LHD mode, any chance there is one of those? my handbook doesn't cover the LED lamps since they weren't offered at the time.
