Today at school, after seeing my new Prius, one of my friends asked me if I was aware that the Prius was considered a "gay" car. Since I am gay, I wouldn't really care if it WAS a gay car, but I hadn't heard anything about this opinion (popular opinion?) until today. Is this all just related to the widely circulated satire report online, or is a large segment of the Prius-driving population homosexual? (I'm aware that this site doesn't really represent a true representation of the people who drive Prii, but I'm curious to see the results.)
Bad poll. Are you polling whether we are gay? and why? (Presumably, Prii themselves do not have reproductive organs.)
Stupid, but what the heck. Ya' know, all I ask is that people of ALL pursuasions (even hetero's) just keep it to themselves, since when do we need to talk about our exploits to others. You shouldn't even know what I am unless I tell you. I wouldn't tell strangers what I am, rarely close friends. None of yor business and we shouldn't talk about such things in polite company.
Hmmm... thought the poll was pretty clear, and didn't think someone would have a problem saying something as trivial as their sexual orientation in an online, anonymous forum. I'm not so stupid as to say that the car is gay, hence the "quotes" around the word gay, hinting that it is a car used by the gay population, not a literally gay car. Was simply trying to gauge if there was any truth to the fact that an abnormally large portion of the Prius driving population was in-fact gay, as some people say we are. Geez, some people are so uptight.
If you were interested in whether we were gay, you should have titled the thread, "Are you gay?". You did not, which indicates to me that your motivation is to create an image of the Prius as a "gay" car. (adjenda much?) The Prius is a great car, whether you are gay or not.
I think it's called "guilt by association", and some people are desperate to avoid it. I've heard my car called 'ugly' at work, but not gay...
Lot of "gay" talk going around... Truthfully, I would not consider the Prius a "gay" car. I think it's more representative of the "earthy-crunch" crowd IF anything... But not "gay"
I could care less what anyone else thinks about it. They can call it gay, ugly, fugly and like my wife, even say it looks like a Jelly bean! I'm getting 50 miles to the gallon! And I've got a nice leather interior, sweet NAV system and the coolest key system ever.
do not know, but you're supposed to be able to sex them by counting the tailpipes. At least that's what my wife said about sexing VW bugs. Seriously, doing a Google on "gay" and "prius" will take you to some interesting sites. Remember, a car can be seen by some as an extention of manliness (or a substitution for a tiny p****). Big engine=more of a man. There was a time that the stereotype was that a man had a dog and a woman had a cat. Look how many avatars are cats.
Not a gay car. The people I know that drive them are overwhelmingly far left liberals, but not disproportionately gay. After communicating with you all for a week, I now know of Prius drivers who are not even liberal.
"And I've got a nice leather interior, sweet NAV system and the coolest key system ever." Hmmm, you're into leather and locks, eh? ;-)
My (business) partner called my car a "chub" but I too havn't heard of anybody saying it was "gay". I just pointed out to him that the drag coefficient was lower than on his Passat and I don't think he's called it a chub since. There are plenty of us who aren't far left. I'm a hard core centrist on most issues with the exception of environment (far left) and gun control (far right).
