Looking to directly replace an OEM stereo from a 08 w/o nav. Just a stock replacement nothing fancy I'm wondering what numbers I need to know to find a compatible donor. I see a bunch on ebay that say they are compatible with: PRIUS 06 recvr (w/CD), w/o cass; marked 51825 on radio face PRIUS 07-09 recvr (w/CD), marked 51825 on radio face also a few same as above but with 51824 as well. I'm just not sure which one I need to get...or does it matter at all? Mine happens to have 51830 on the face, can I replace it with a 51824 or 51825? or do I have to have a 51830 as a replacement. Or do I need to match the actual model number on the top cover ie. (86120-47270)? Also I heard rumor that a replacement will need to be programmed by the dealer to communicate properly with the car.....any truth to this..or a workaround maybe? Thanks
nevermind, the parts guy at Toyota says the two are compatible with eachother. The 51830 and the 51825. We will see if it needs to be programmed when it arrives
I bought my replacement stereo from Steve at Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle PHEV for $82 including shipping. He knows which models fit which Prius. JeffD
Just for future reference. The 51825 is the JBL system with the 6-disc changer. It will not plug-and-play into a base model prius, different connectors on the back. As long as the replacement deck has the same connectors on the back as yours it will be a direct interchange
