I know they're OEM on some Vs and I put those rims on my car --- but who sells them in 215/45R17? Can't find them anywhere.

    thanks.

I get Toyo tires at the Tire Barn, but I don't think there are any in your area. Try the dealer finder on their website:

    http://toyotires.com/

BTW, Toyo tires are the only tires I use on my four cars.

    My Toyota Dealer has tires!!

Call your local Toyota dealer! My dealer has a full tire service.
I like my Toyos, 12000 miles and they look great!!
Best tire I have had so far. This car handles so sweet, so much better than my 09' gen II with 15s

I wonder how they compare with the OEM Michelins (for 17" rims)?? Anyone? I like my Toyos so far, but i am wondering about switching to Michelins when these Toyos wear out?

Try tirerack.com - they have a huge selection, and the lowest prices in my experience.

Re: My Toyota Dealer has tires!!

Buying tires at a car dealer is likely the most expensive way to buy them.

    that's the first place I checked....they don't carry them...either does Discounttiredirect.com

100% true...I know the dealer can get them but probably outrageously priced.

Why do you want that particular tire? Just because it's one of Toyota's OEM choices for the 17" rim? Apart from likely being LRR (a high priority with auto manufacturers), it might be a lackluster tire.

I would just research what's available on tirerack. Our OEM tire was Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 215/45R17. It's touted as LRR, but other than that it doesn't receive much positive review or rating. The Michelin Primacy MXM4 215/45R17 looks good though.

Notice where the OEM Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 is, in comparison:

    Consumer Survey Results By Category

    Way down the list

Those consumer surveys by TR has never really appealed to me. I think that most owners would rate their NEW tires better than their old ones simply because most only remember how their old tires were at the end of its life. I only look at TR's editor comparison tests...those are useful.

He didn't say cheap!! I use to do this too spend a half a day calling around
Big O Tire, Discount Tire, Tire Rack all of them! Maybe save 5 bucks
How do you make out with the shipping and you still have to find someone to put them on!!

price difference at a dealer versus TIRERACK is waaaay more than $5....more like $50 per tire and thru TIRERACK there is no tax and shipping is cheap.

its a long story but I have 2 near new ones I was trying to give to a friend in need but he needs 4 and doesn't want to have 2 different types of tires on his car.

One of my tires suffered a major sidewall failure today and the initial position of my dealer is that this was the result of a "road hazard". They had to order a replacement that will arrive in two days. I have been quoted a price of $290 plus $20 for balancing and installation which seems unreasonably high considering other same size name brand tires available at other retailers I checked, none of which carried Toyo products.

I would appreciate any advice readers of this forum can provide, especially what their Toyota dealers have been charging.

My car came with the Toyo Proxis A20 tires and they were good tires. But the cost of buying them is way to high. The only place I found them was at dealers and one tire store that said they could special order them but their price was as bad as the dealers.

I recommend going to Costco or Tire Rack and getting a set of Michelins or Bridgestones that you like. The ones mentioned by Mendel are probably very good tires. The Michelin Pilot line is also very good for a little more money.

I have been using Michelins for about 10K miles now, The Michelin Primacy mentioned by Mendal and others looks good for a LRR tire, good price also. I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S because I like the way the car drives and handles with high performance tires. I may try the LRR tires next time though because I have given up some mileage and the ride is a bit harsh, even for me.

Costco USA has 8 17" choices right now, the majority of them LRR:

    Costco.ca: Shop for Tires

You can get more info on each at tirerack. The Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 is cheapest, but only by a few bucks, compared to the Michelin Primacy V-rated, directly above. At Costco Canada the spread is more.

Put on the spare and get away from the dealer? ;)

$290 for a single tire is highway robbery. I would rather just replace it with 2 new tires that cost less.

Quality 215/45/17 that wont break the bank are Continental Extremecontact DWS and General Altimax HP. A great LRR tire in the same size is the Michelin Primacy MXM4, especially for wet traction and smooth quiet ride but they run about $30 more per tire than the other 2 tires.

My Toyo tires are down to 4/32 at only 21000 miles. Not very good. My next set of tires will be Michelins.
