If I saw a "Z" on one, or a "P", and it looked good, then I'd get it. I don't give a flip what letter it is. I don't like the "T". It looks like the Michelin Man cartoon/animated character. When I end up spending 10k or more upgrading my car to look the way I want it and like it, I don't want to walk out into the garage daily and have my eyes drawn straight to (what I think is) an out-of-place emblem stuck smack center in the front of the car. It doesn't represent a status thing to me. I think the pictures I see of that emblem on the car all over the internet looks AWESOME. The first night my mother bought me the car, I spent hours on the internet searching for something that looked better. And, the kits I saw everywhere reminded me of an old CRX I had back in the day, so I decided to just go ahead and take the plunge and make it like I liked it. If I could have found one that was a "B", and it looked better than the "T", then I might get it, since it stands for my first name.... But, I could only find places that made emblems that would produce it for me in MASS quantity. I don't need 1,000 of them.... Just one. I did find the "B" (for Branew) to go on the fuel door. I'm still tossing that one around in my mind. Anywho, I'm not hung up on what letter it is. There are representations on the internet of various Prius cars with the "L" emblem; I think it looks better; I don't need 1,000 of another letter; the "L" emblem is available for purchase; so I'm gonna buy them! But now that it seems the "L" seems to represent a lot more to other people on the forum besides me, I may just put LEXUS really big across the front windshield and down both sides of the car. I guess that's what's expected. NOT! I didn't know people added the ///M badge to their BMWs...mine always just had that on there to start with...and I didn't think it was ugly, so it stayed.

so true. in the bmw community these people who put M badges on their non-M cars are looked down upon with huge amounts of disapproval.

basically, if you think the "prius hate" (see other thread explaining that) is bad now, don't be surprised if it gets worse with a lexus badge on your car...and it won't just be non-prius drivers handing it out.

of course it's your choice. just throwing out the possible repercussions of your decision.

So glad to know other members think this mod is wannabe status. I thought i was just being a jerk at first.

I think the "being a jerk" thing is more on track, because this "posing" thing and this "wannabe" thing appear to be issues that others need to deal with, because they have no meaning to me whatsoever. Of the 15 cars I've previously owned, this is the first car where I've totally disliked the stock emblem and have made it my goal to please myself by replacing it. Other people's hang-ups over status symbols are irrelevant in this post. Me being kind enough to divulge my "find" to the other members of the forum has no cause to be cut down or criticized. The use of the "L" emblem on the Prius by Aimgain and ASI, and Kaira would seem to be totally unrelated to these manufacturers "wannabe-ing", or "posing". It is a specific look that is desired by many, yet price limits many from affording this look (or else people don't wish to face bullying or name-calling by those who have personal hang-ups with the letter "L" being placed on the Prius). We should all start blogs, I guess, where we can bash these manufacturers for being posers and wannabes for having such beautiful cars, right? yeah right...

Good. I'm glad it has no meaning to you whatsoever, it shouldn't. That's the whole point of modifications. But you display your modification on a public forum so except good and bad criticism. I think me sharing my opinion is better than the guy who doesn't say anything. I hope you respect that.

I think you're wrong. I doubt many people will want this mod. Also, I've seen the activity level of the Prius modification forum for a long time and mods like this come and go. I also don't think the price will limit people from doing this mod. $100 isn't much for people who can afford a Prius. Sorry.

I wasn't referring to people merely not being able to afford to buy emblems...I meant the price of these WHOLE KITS, including the "L" emblems (as shown in each manufacturer's pictures)...i.e., the Aimgain kit with "L" emblems; the ASI Green kit with "L" emblems; the Tommy Kaira kit with "L" emblems. I would certainly hope a person could afford around $300 to purchase the 2 outside "L" emblems, along with their accompanying "background" plates, and have them shipped...

Hey GPG, since you're getting the Lexus badge, you should seriously consider 19" Lexus F-sport rims. That would look sick!

I would do that but Gen II can't fit 19s and I don't got that kind of dough. Lol.

I'll have to Google them, I did think about that, IF I had "stock" looking rims on it afterward.... Thanks for that recommend! The wheels will probably be as big of a chore for me as finding these emblems has been...

I still haven't come up with a solution to the emblem on the steering wheel. It appears to be indented/sunk into the center of the steering wheel, with the center of the steering wheel formed to fit a "T" emblem....therefore an "L" wouldn't fit without some sort of whole new center piece for the steering wheel..... either that or just replace the whole steering wheel...

    GPG,

The T on the steering wheel is designed around having the air bag deploy. I don't know where the seam is but the emblem probably goes one way or another to avoid being imprinted on your face. Don't want to test this out but something to consider about changing out the steering wheel T emblem.

Yes and no, the guys at Club Lexus do it all the time. I'm sure you can find plenty of info from them, where to buy, etc. They're not exactly stock unless you're buying a IS F. They have te grunge aftermaket look but they're solid and would finish off your car's motif. It is also available as an upgrade for the CT200h.

The Toyo/Lexus enthusiasts will certainly be able to recognize it and appreciate.

^^ He's probably going to need to get adapters as well going for the IS-F rims. As far as I know, they have a 5x114 bolt pattern as opposed to a 5x100 for the Prius. The rear offsets could been an issue as well since those Lexus rims are for a rear-wheel drive car.

Yeah, I've run into that already.....the whole "these are for rear-wheel drive" thing...

So, do you know if that whole center part can just be taken off the steering wheel (like I suppose the silver trim does where the steering wheel buttons are)? You know....like if you were just taking the steering wheel apart to replace it or something... Reason I ask...I am curious if the "T" on the steering wheel is SCREWED on, or adhered. I don't really wanna just stick a screwdriver under it, tho, and start prying! lol! There's plenty (probably) of Lexus emblems that go on with the double-sided tape that could just go in the "T's" place, but I'd have to get the "T" off first so that the "L" emblem would be recessed down in that center indented part, as opposed to being stuck on over the top of the "T" and looking.....fugly...

I agree, I don't know why but the "T" emblem looks weird. It's not even a "T" because it's all rounded up.

I did go badgeless on the front and probably will at the back soon.

Thanks for sharing and GOOD choice on the I "L"ove my car badge :)

Thanks for agreeing! I've always REALLY disliked the "T" emblems. Every time I walk out into the garage, it's the first thing I look at, and I think...."WHY does it have to look so weird?" It just looks cheap to me or something. I hate it that 2 emblems will cost $498....but it'll be worth it to me, cause I really don't like those weird "T" emblems currently on it. I just gotta figure out the steering wheel one now, cause they don't offer anything for that one.....
