I'm driving around $200 worth of gas every week in my FX35 right now and am DYING to buy a prius. I only want a 2010, white, black or gray. I don't care so much about the options, obviously the more the merrier, and the cheaper the better. Please respond or contact if you have one. I'm in Southern California, Pasadena to be precise.

There is DianneWhitmire here on Priuschat. I haven't personally dealt w/her though so I can't recommend/disrecommend. She's in Carson though, so that's a little far for you...

You will LOVE the mileage improvement compared to your FX35. :)

I don't mind travelling, well anywhere within CA at least. Is she a dealer?
I know, I'm really looking forward to a prius, I just can't seem to find the right one with the right price!

:(Bought a new Prius last week, just got off the phone with my salesman. (I was asking about getting the backup beeper modified). I got a very good price on a pkg 2, however he said that because of the events in Japan, no new Prii will be built for 30 days and they are going back today to msrp pricing.....Not unexpected I guess. So I think the panic has begun, at least in Southern California. Good Luck on buying a Prius, new or used, it's probably best to wait for a while if possible.

Sigh... it sounds like they're trying to take advantage. How do they know "no new Prii will be built for 30 days"?

This is the latest from Toyota: Newsroom : Updated Toyota Statement Regarding Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan / Toyota which is near the top of Toyota Vehicles : Toyota Home Page / Toyota.

Of particular note from the most current update (as of now)...
    and an older update

If the OP can't get a Prius for a reasonable price, there are plenty of other choices (with not as good mileage) at Most fuel-efficient cars.

Camry Hybrid, Fusion Hybrid and Altima Hybrid aren't assembled in Japan.

You can still get some around here for less than MSRP. How much less? Probably not much. I think if someone really wants one, now (today) is the time to buy. I think the shortage will probably last for about the next year. Its not going to get better anytime soon.

I have been watching inventories at select dealers, trying to guage what is going on. I was surprised that Longo Toyota still had 120 Prius in stock as of yesterday. Of course, they are the largest Toyota dealer in the US, and probably get a huge allocation. They probably still have quite a few allocated and in the pipeline. The real shortage will hit in about 45 days in my opinion.

That's insane. I bought mine for less than three weeks ago:

    Invoice was 28,399.
    MSRP was 30,190.
    I paid 27,400.

1000 under invoice and 2800 under MSRP.

Try the USAA or Costco car buying service if you're looking to buy new. Used, it's tough. The only reason I went new is that there really wasn't much depreciation from the 2010 to 2011 models and the ones I saw didn't look like they'd been treated very well.

I bought July of last year and paid $3300 less than Invoice! Just bought my wife an HS250h in January and paid $4000 under Invoice for it. Both should be worth MSRP here in a couple weeks...

Longo is the largest Toyota dealer. But Santa Monica is the largest seller of Priuses. You might give them a call. Personally, I thought they were a little smug, so I bought mine at Power Toyota in Irvine (and nobody would match the price). Santa Monica Toyota is about 1.5 miles from where I live and I chose to drive 60 miles to Irvine. That should tell you how smug I thought Santa Monica was.

I'm kinda surprised that you haven't already bought your Prius from Longo, as they are pretty close to you.

I mean it all depends on the options right? if it's a base, I don't want to have to pay more than $21k with tax included. If it's a V, then obviously I'd pay more. I just feel like private parties would be cheaper, cut out the middle man, we can both profit from it.
I think the red with solar is a great deal, but I just can't do red. I'm even checking SF craigslist!

I too, think it's a great time to buy. I had put it off for way too long, should have started looking for one sooner.
