Has anyone found any use for EVO mode. I have 2010 Prius, which I love. It seems though that almost anything cancels it. I sometimes press it so that when I am getting started, it will not crank up the ICE until I am out of my driveway or the parking lot.

    Thoughts?

It can be useful to move your car from one parking place to another in the same parking lot.

(Avoid scaring blind people with it, we have enough legislation about that already)

I use EV mode in my subdivision. There are restrictions, like the engine has to be warmed up, you can't go over 25mph, you can't accelerate under high load ( up a hill), etc. Fine for parking lot or other relatively flat areas where you won't exceed 25.

Stay under 10 mph until car is warmed up -- useful for backing out of driveway, moving around parking lot. After warmed up, good to appx 25 mph, which can be very useful in parking lots. I find this the major advantage my Prius has over my Insight.

Once the engine coolant reaches a temperature of 155°F, you can push EV mode all the way into the RED zone on the Eco-Meter. I find it handy entering my neighborhood streets, since both ends are steep hills and neither you'd want to be going faster than 24 MPH anyway. It's nice for stop & slow traffic driving too.

Without being in EV mode, the electric-only power (indicated on the Eco-Meter) is limited to the GREEN zone. But the speed threshold is 46 MPH.

I use EV mode (assume that's what you mean) very occasionally, usually to pull the car into or out of the garage without starting the engine. Unfortunately it only works about 30% of the time, typically when the car's already warmed.

I am finding that if I put it on right after I press the start button, it will delay the engine start until I get on the road.
