    Hi guys,

I live in Australia, I just broke my prius record on reaching 1100km (680mile) in one tank. anyone here had even better result before?

I used to only get around 900km (560miles) however, since i have added acetone in the fuel (I use 98ron fuel in aus) the fuel economy improve quite alot.....

i am very happy with the fuel economy now, espeically in a time of high petrol prices ^_^

Try alternating acetone vs. non-acetone tanks, for at least five
full cycles, and then report back with hard numbers.

I have been using acetone for 3months now, i am very happy with it, I found the acetone does give better fuel economy, but it doesn't not have the same effect as my other car, mini cooper S.

The mini improved from 480km a tank to 580km a tank, and with the prius, i was averaging around 870km per tank if lucky 900km, however after acetone, i have been getting around 950+, and last week i broke my record and got 1100km.

When Toyota recommends acetone, I'll use it. Not before.
My MPG has been 67 averaged over the past 10 tanks. Regular petrol, thanks.

How many litres does your tank take to fill? I use acetone as well, 60ml for 35 litres which is a full tank. I only get 650 to 700 Km to a tank. My display tells me that I am averaging 5.0 L/ 100Km. Also what grade octane do you use?

I use 98 octane fuel (BT or Shell)

I usually drive till the tank is pretty much empty...... then i go fill it up..... at once stage i filled my prius up for 50L, I know prius say its a 45L tank........ but i filled it up to the max top....

and i add around 100ml to my tank...... i used to put 120ml....... but i found 100ml give even more mileage.

also i pump my tire pressure to the High Speed recommeandation.

i don't drive on highway much....... once i drove a few hundred km @ around 110km/h.......... the fuel economy went up from 4.8l/100km to 5.6l/100km

The most I filled my tank was 38L. Here in Canada the most octane you get at the pumps is 94 octane. I use Shell as Shell does not use ethanol in their fuel. I have not yet come to any conclusion in regardes to the use of Acetone in the fuel. I purchased Acetone from The Home Depot, however I have been told that it must be 100% Acetone. Some manufactures "cut" the Acetone which leaves it at less than 100%. So my next visit to my Aunts in the wonderful USA, I will stop at Walgreens and get 100% Acetone and try it as well.

I used to only able to fill 40L in my tank..... and the pump will automatcally stop....

i don't know the canda prius spec is..... but here is Aus, the prisu doesn't comes with a fuel tank flip, as in where the petrol bump hose go into the opening of the petrol tank, there isn't any metal flip part ......... so what i do is...... (during tuesday, when the petrol is cheapest in Sydney) I fill my car to the maxium top using the normal way........ then after the pump stop, i take out the petrol hose out of the tank opening...... so you can actually see the petrol flowing into the tank.... if you fill you tank slowly this way..... it will fill it up all the way to the top of the reserve tank......

I have tried driving the car nearly 70km after the light start to flash..... and i end up filling up 54L at the pump...... this is why i was able to do 1100km last month.... pretty cool.... don't need to visit the petrol station for 6-7weeks

I don’t know for sure but isn’t the fuel pump located in the gas tank? If it’s cooled by the gas, aren’t you occasionally overheating it?
