HEY THERE PRIUS CHAT FOLKS !!!

    :):):):)

Spent most of the Sunday afternoon (03-27-11) completing the latest Project on HB II !!!

I installed the 5000K (White) LED lighting in the Front and Rear Footwells, and within the Center Cluster !!!

Here are some pix taken that afternoon During and After Installation !!!

Purchased the 5000K (White) String of 12V LEDs !!!
**These are Sealed Lights and are Waterproof !!!**

For the Custom Fitment, I had to cut each light individually ...

    First Look ... Power Off

    Power On

Then it was time to do the Custom Length cutting and connecting !!!

I allowed extra wiring to accommodate the seat movement (Forward and Back) positioning so as not to pull on the wire.

    Almost Ready !!!

Taken in the evening, these 5000K (White) LEDs are nice and bright !!!

    Overview

I am VERY SATISFIED how these came out !!!

I will be installing a Dimming Switch to control the intensity, supplementary lighting for the engine bay, front armrest, glove compartment, and rear cargo area ... COMING SOON !!!

Because I'm particular on wiring and wanted the Custom Fitment, this Project took about 5 Hours to complete. I wanted to make sure the wires and connections came out clean, hidden, and secured safely. This helps to troubleshoot any discrepancies along the way.

This was well worth my Sunday Morning-Afternoon !!!

    Happy PRIUS LIGHTING Folks !!!

Great look, and very neat work, Rodney!

I can't see from the photo (old eyes, you know), but what wires did you tap for power?

    Thanks!

    HI DAN !!!

You have a very good eye !!!

If you look carefully in one of the pictures you will notice the wire that is not yet hidden !!! I will be tapping into an independent "always on" power supply with a dimmer switch coming soon. I want to be able to independently turn these really low current drawing bad boys on so that they will be able to be on at the night events !!!

    Hope this helps !!!

    HEY THEBLUEWEDGE !!!

Thank you for the kind words, it's been quite a Build since Day One.

I'm having a great time with the Prius as you can see ... there are endless possibilities as far as customizing and modding !!!

There are many resources available for the Prius, and some ideas I just carried over from my Scion Build as well.

This Prius Build will always be a Work In Progress !!!

    Thanks again !!!

    Hi Rodney

I have been reading all the posts! I really am enjoying watching you mod your Prius. I was wondering if you might share some advice?

I love your daytime running lights, the LED strips you added to the headlights. I was wondering, if you had decided to keep the original headlights, what would you use for the daytime running lights?

I love how yours look, but if I use those, do you think they'd look funny alongside the color of the original headlights?

I have a 2010 Prius IV. I'm going to add the PriusChat fog lights and I think I'd like to do the daytime lights at the same time. Any suggestions?

Also, I love how your caliper covers turned out. I am keeping the original 15 inch wheels. I took off the hub caps and love the aluminum wheels
underneath. What would you recommend for red caliper covers that will fit the original 15's?

Thanks for this cool thread! I'm really enjoying it!

    Hi BLUESMOKE !!!

Thanks for the kind words on the build :)

In regards to the daytime running lights, if I kept the original headlamp bulbs (halogen) and not upgraded to the HID's I don't think I would've used the LED strips as the color doesn't match too well with the Halogens.

If you do purchase the Prius Chat Foglamps, I would suggest upgrading both the Fogs and Headlamps to the HIDs (6000k color temperature) to match the same LED lighting strips that I'm using, I think it just flows better !!!

And as far as the MGP Caliper Covers, they will not fit the stock 15's unfortunately ... You may want to look into possibly purchasing caliper paint to achieve what you would like in lieu of the Caliper Covers !!!

    I hope this helps !!!

Thanks for the advice! It's very helpful. I'll install the fog lights and then make a future project of replacing the bulbs and adding the DRLs.

Caliper paint. I'll have to look into that! I was wondering about these covers. Are you able to tell if they fit the standard wheels?

    Thanks again for the reply!

Rodney, do you know if the caliper covers will fit with a spacer? Or is there just not enough room around the inner barrel to fit them?
