I think of him as another Howard Stern, but even less entertaining.

Because it mostly relates to crass comments made by a celebrity. If the ratio of political posts starts to get too high, I'm sure it will be banished. Until then we can enjoy a spirited debate about why some public figures enjoy saying stupid things.

the fact of the matter is that if you have listened to Rush over the years, then you would understand that his comments, though harsh, aren't really about the Japanese refugees. Rush is a conservative who truly believes that environmentalists are the cause of many of the world's problems and that the movement doesn't really do anything that helps the Earth in the long run. What he is making fun of is the fact that despite their efforts, environmentalists, not the quake victims, can really do nothing to make the world a better place because we cannot compete with mother nature. Natural disasters can wipe any of us out at any time, and it has nothing to do with recycling.

I didn't particularly care for his comments after watching the video, but they weren't born out of hatred for Japanese or anything of that sort. It was purely aimed at the irony of environmentalism.

While Rush may had his sights on environmentalists, his delivery is still offensive....still seems like he's making fun of the quake victims and he's painting ALL environmentalists as socialists....so to be a true conservative I've got to agree with everything he says like some high school clicke'? Like him promise to drive a vehicle that gets no better than 18 mpg?

In Rush's mind, cheap oil is endless, climate change is bunk, and smog is a minor annoyance. Just pretend there never was an EPA and all US cities had smog like in the 50's and 60's...I bet we would smog more than the Chinese....wait a minute! the PRC is socialist and yet they are following Rush's environmental policies! Limbaugh would never spout his feelings - only liberals do that - right?

Regardless of his intended message, it was distasteful. And if that is in fact his argument, he is more ignorant than I thought.

I wonder if Rush has made trips to Japan, and really knows anything about their culture and country. The simple fact is that with so little land space and natural resources, they HAVE TO recycle everything in order to have a clean place to live! I bet all of those washed out cars will be making their way back into consumer products in one form or another.

I'm not a Rush hater or lover. I just like simple facts.

Rush has been broadcasting for 25 years.

Don't you think that's long enough to voice his POV without being insensitive, tasteless, and stirring up needless controversy?

No, I don't think weeks or months of listening make ridiculing of quake victims OK.

I'm not much of a listener of such comedians....if most had my tastes they probably would be out of business.

So why am I less offended by Gilbert Gottfried?

First of all, they did not say as much about his offensive content other than it was offensive.

The main reason is he is not attempting to exercise influence with political speech and have millions that will gleefully believe it.

That this guy has a sizeable audience is a testimony to the overall low quality of American K12 education.

oh please, let's not pretend that rush listeners are sheep being led astray. the reason rush has 20+ million listeners is because people tend to agree with his positions on issues. You just don't get to be that successful without being aligned with the population to some degree. But yeah, it's also entertaining, so you have to know how to take it. I don't agree with everything rush says, but i still listen because the show is good. he's also taken out of context quite a bit.

A considerable amount of his audience takes his ignorant remarks seriously and one example is the occasional troller with the anti-Prius posts.

That's my biggest concern - millions being confirmed their fantasies and opinions are reality and behave accordlingly....every day I run across people convinced of the "Rush Reality"

I see things have not changed much around here....

It's funny to see Liberals say "people" have short memories when R's got the hand in the house, last fall.

Then they spew there anti-Bush rhetoric and then come back and spew BS against Rush? Pot Meet Kettle.
