Back up reverse beep..Thank you PriusChat!

    Reverse bell bugged me. Claremont Toyota (So Cal) reprogrammed to only one short beep. Seat belt bells don't come on if less than 12 MPH.

    Here is the reply mail dealer:

    Rick,

    After speaking with our service department, they informed me that there is no way to bypass the backup sensor in the Prius. There are ways to customize the power locks, but not the actual sensor. Has another dealer found a way? I would be careful not to void any warranties in making a fix that Toyota doesn’t recommend. If there is a way in the future, you’ll be the first one I’ll call.

    My dealer switched mine (2011)to one beep mode this morning at no charge.

    Thanks to the info here, my dealer disabled the reverse beeping, seatbelt reminder and re-programed the automatic door locking system.:)

    BTW in 2011 owners manual 6-2 begins on page 596 under customization. Beeps and options are on p.601. One reverse beep and no seat bealt beeps. My dealer did it in 5 minutes. No charge.
