I read a couple of short threads on aftermarket alarm systems on the Prius, but not a lot of info.

I'm wondering how many people here have viper alarms or similar installed? I finalizing a deal for a 2011 Prius lll....and I am considering a viper alarm system that will protect the contents in my car better than just having the immobilizer. Anyone have some recent experience with aftermarket installations that integrate the Prius's remote so you only need to carry one? Wondering what model viper and cost?

Thank you....hopefully I'll be joining you all soon as a proud owner.

I did alarm installs a long time ago for about 6 years. My personal opinion alarms don’t really work unless you keep a lot of stuff in your car not shouldn’t be in there. If someone wants to steal a car all they need to do is hire a tow truck or normally they own one if they are pros.

    Secondly or more importantly

    7. 1994 Nissan Sentra
    8. 1994 Dodge Caravan
    9. 1994 Saturn SL
    10.1990 Acura Integra

Notice the year’s most these cars don’t have immobilizers.

Save your money. It really isn't necessary with the Prius.

With aftermarket alarm with remote start like Clifford you can remote start your car from 1km.
