OH NO!!!! It’s a bait and switch scheme!

(No, not the Silver for the Salsa . . . although that would be a bait and switch in my eyes :p )

Both pictures on their website are of either an AM or BC model . . . (HIDs and fog lights).
Yet their "The fine print" section is says:

    “3. Prizes. The Winner's choice of a Base Model Toyota Prius . . .â€

    [/Kiding Mode]

But, it’s cool that they also say, “Options may be added at Winner's sole expense, at the dealer's invoice cost.â€

BUUUUT . . . they also say, “Timing of the delivery of the vehicle is at the discretion of Thurston Auto Plaza. Given that this model will be in high demand, delivery may take time.â€
    <a href=\'http://www.kzyx.org/rules_details.html\' target=\'_blank\'>http://www.kzyx.org/rules_details.html</a>

Yikes! That’s a little loose for legalese. I wonder if that can be translated into, “You will be placed on, and remain at the bottom of our Prius waiting list, and will be assigned the first car not spoken for by current and future parties on said list, but only once said car has been place on our showroom floor for a minimum of fifteen days for purchase by the general public, or other entity.â€

I wonder if the winner can wait until 2006 to take delivery, add and pay for an upgrade and, by doing so, also receive the 2006 tax break?????

As I mentioned before bought mine already but...

In looking at the KZYX site again after looking at the package prices on another PC thread couldn't help but notice a price discrepency. They state that it is a Base Prius and the description fits, but list the value at 23,500. On other threads, the Base Pruis '06 is listing at 21,725 MSRP. A package #4 is 23,500. The difference would not account for destination fees either. Lastly, it I also noted in one of the '06 Prius threads that nowhere in CA were pkg. #4's being allocated. So is this an over MSRP markup???

    Just wondering.

I would suggest that you contact the radio station KZYX, or Thurston Toyota in Ukiah, CA if you really need to know the answer to your question. Tax, license, registration and optional upgrades are the responsiblity of the winner of the raffle. I beleive that you could opt out of the car and just take $20,000 in cash.

For a $50 chance in the raffle with only 1000 tickets being sold, I would say it's quite a win IF you happen to win no matter what your ultimate choice is.

And if you lose, you still win because supporting commercial-free, grassroots, alternative radio is extremely important to the survival of our civil liberties and our personal sanity. Unless you actually enjoy your intelligence being insulted contantly by the crap that Clear Channel and most commercial stations dish out these days.

Another great commercail-free, community-owned radio station is KMUD in Southern Humboldt, California. 91.1 or KMUD.org if you listen online. I highly recommend you tune into a popular show airing at 9:00 AM (PST) on Fridays... "Thank Jah, It's Friday". But most everything they broadcast is thought provoking, informative and entertaining.

    Good luck in the raffle!

I believe that IF you win, and IF you decided to upgrade to say a #9 or add options to the "base" package, depending on how long it takes the dealership to find that model with the added options, you could well end up with a 2006 model. It's not as if the radio station has already purchased the car that will be awarded.

It even states in the 'fine print', "...Given that this model will be in high demand, delivery may take time."

C'mon people! LESS THAN 20 TICKETS LEFT.

The sooner they sell those tickets, the sooner they hold the drawing and find out WHO the lucky gambler the brand new Prius is awarded to.
