According to what I've just been told by my broker.. I have the current Package prices from Toyota.

    Basic MSRP = 21725.00

    #1 GY 650.00
    #2 HE 825.00
    #3 HF 1475.00
    #4 HG 1825.00
    #5 HI 3205.00
    #6 HK 3830.00
    #7 NL 5730.00
    #8 NW 6890.00

Best I can tell the only diff between #7 and #8 is the leather... diff = 1160.00
Only diff between #6 and #7 is the Naviagation... diff = 1900.00

P.S. If you are in this area.. my broker provides 500.00 Below MSRP.. so don't pay some crazy over the msrp price.. its already expensive enough!

Who is your broker? I live in Seattle. Where is s/he located? Any sense of wait/delivery time? Have you actually ordered a 2006 yet? Please let me know. I'm interested in paying below MSRP, who wouldn't be. Thanks, Deborah (in Seattle)

He works out of his home... you will be picking your car up at a dealer and all the paperwork etc will be handled in advance.

I live in Portland Oregon and am very interested in your latest information. Please tell me, do you know if Bob Lee also handles the Portland Oregon area? If so, he will be getting a call from me tomorrow.

    Thanks

Say, we're in Eugene and would happily come to Portland for $500 below MSRP, if they're really honest about it. We plan now to consult with a local leasing agency tomorrow (who also sells new cars) as we're being given the run-around by the big local dealer, PLUS we were told today they are charging $1200 ABOVE MSRP for Prius' as of this week!! When we talked to the salesguy who responded to my online quote request 3 weeks ago, we were told MSRP and that's all. Now they've changed their tune! Heck, I want the tax credit, they don't get it!

Please ignore my requeist above. I did an internet search and found that Bob Lee is located in Vancouver Washington. His web site is:

    http://www.nationalautolocators.com/

If anyone has actually purchased through Bob Lee and is willing to give a reference, that information would be greatly appreciated. I am considering buying through him.

When you make your deal.. you should not get any hidden cost or fees other than...
    1. MSRP of 21725 plus
    2. Your package price selection plus
    3. Any extra accessories like Matts, emegergency kit etc. plus
    4. Destination charge of 580.00
    = Your total....
THEN YOU GET TO MINUS! 500.00 for your "below msrp discount"

My price on the car I ordered is:
    21725.00 "MSRP" +
    6890.00 "Package # 8" +
    262.00 "Z1 Preferred accessory package"
580.00 "Destination Charge" Slightly high.. maybe went up?
    = 29457.00 Minus 500.00 = 28957.00 Total Price.

I need also add that Bob charges a 250.00 "finders fee" for getting any vehicle he gets for you..... as it will normally be wholesale. He was able to save my son in low about 5K on a used van... but the prius is in such high demand.. the savings are not as dramatic.

I called Bob Lee today after getting the number from Windstrigs here at Priuschat. He was straightforward and seemed honest enough. I live in Seattle and he said he would have a Prius delivered to me (to my door) for not extra charge. He seemed knowledgeable about how ordering works and said he thought I could get my car after January 1st and probably before February 1st. He didn't guarantee though. He said I could have ANY package I wanted.

He did, though, say he charges $250 for his services, which brings the $500 off MSRP down to $250. Windstrings, is he charging you this $250? I'd be interested to hear about other people's experiences with and opions of Bob Lee. I'm tempted to order through him as he seemed more knowledgeable than any of the dealers with whom I've spoken in Seattle.

Wow! You can post seller's names on PriusChat?

I did that on Edmund's and the moderator pulled my posting. That's why I hang out here now instead of over there. :)

Yes.. he is charging the 250.00... thats his standard "finders fee" as he deals in all types of cars used and new.... he acts as a "locator" and gets them wholesale.. I have bought my last 3 cars from similiar folks...
My son-in-law bought a nice van from Bob about 4 months ago and was very pleased.... thats how I found out about him.
I've been over to his house on the river and was very impressed at him and his place.

Ill go back and edit my prior post to add the finders fee.... I didn't consider that part of the price of the car since that was his fee.... Normally the savings of using him can be realized in the thousands when puchasing a used car... but the prius demands a much higher price and the savings is harder to realize...... so yes when you factor that in... you are getting 250.00 below msrp and not having to deal with all the stuff that goes on when you walk onto a lot. I'll not elaborate furthur on that!

Thanks very much for the added details - I'm sure that all of us in the Pacific Northwest contemplating buying a Prius are potentially interested.

Since you would pick up your vbehicle at a dealer, I'm wondering if that means the vehicle comes out of the dealer's allocation? If so, does that mean that you get pushed to the back of the line at that dealer since he is selling to his own customers first?

Also, since you won't be taking delivery until January, did you have to place a deposit with Bob? How much? Is the deposit refundable if he can't get the car in a reasonable timeframe? (I presume this is all spelled out in a contract?)

When you finally pick up the car, do you pay the dealer or pay Bob?

All information on exactly how this works is greatly appreciated - thanks!

He handles anybody... I believe even anyone from out of state could purchase through him and fly down to pick it up when ready.....
When "as it sounds".. may be a bargain and a nice vacation in one for someone.

It would prob be very simple for you.. because the place he uses for the prius is out of Oregon to order Through..... you could call and discuss it with him, but it sounds like you could pick it up in there or maybe even straight to your house according to debra?
I was also not aware this was avaliable....

I thought the same thing.. but I checked with the Moderators and Even "Danny" and he said it was ok... he recommended it be placed on the dealers page and I did so.. but not many read that area appearently....

Since I'm not a dealer I merely mentioned "my broker" and the questions came from there. It really grieved me hearing so many get bent over about extra charges above MSRP....the dealers attitude is that they should be able to charge whatever the market will allow... So be it.. if folks are willing to pay... but I don't see that as too much different as extraordinarily high gas prices... "just because people will pay". I don't see either way as morally right or wrong... but its about what market will allow... If you can go through a broker, you won't have all the fancy resources a dealer may can offer, but you also don't have the hassle!...
When it comes to your warranty etc... it is irrelevant who or where you bought it from.

The only check you give to Bob is the 250.00.. the check for the Car will be to the dealer. Thats where his orders are place through and he says he gets the best deals and financing and has his connections through them.. I"m sure he has better details on that than me, just call him if you like.

I don't know how "allocations" are handled..
He said his connection is the top 5 in the NW states. So he thinks he will not have a problem getting cars. Once he actually orders it... you have it and its cast in stone.

And yes.. before your order can actually be placed, you will need to pay your fee,
He said anything serious would be refundable.. if you simply change your mind, then not.

Yeesh, at 1.15% exchg rate, I get an 06 with nav, bluetooth, HIDs, leather and backup camera for LESS than what I paid for my midrange. I hope they adjusted the pricing in Canada cause it's geting rather expensive.

What is the minus $500? (Below MSRP discount)? Is it only through Bob or all Toyota dealers?

Bob gets you the car at $500 below MSRP from a dealer as I understand it.

This is a great way to buy a car and I believe it'll catch on. He does all the negotiating and he has contacts through certain dealers and specific salespeople and he can get a far far better price on ANY car than you can on your own I'm sure...

I know its foreign and scary to alot of folks who have never heard of it.. but I"ve been buying that way for 15 years... its the only way to fly!....
I have however found one dealer who sells bottom dollar... no hassle, no haggeling, ...their price is right on the sticker.. you can shop, travel all you want and I have found they are always still the lowest, and always honest.. they won't make you feel like a slime dog if you want to walk out the door and shop some more and they won't pressure you if you come back for a second, third or fourth look.... a small Christian outfit that is ran by the whole family... they sell used cars.... unfortunately they don't sell Prius's!...

If other dealers would operated like that... they wouldn't have car brokers who could hold a candle!...

NOT ALL CAR DEALERS ARE BAD OR EVIL! Some are very good!.. but by the time a shopper takes a few chances to go find out which ones are which.. they never want to shop again!!!

Brokers are simple... you just tell them over the phone or in person what you want.. they find it for you.. either its not quite right and they keep looking for more wholesale opportunities and will call you later, or you go look..
You pay no fee at all unless they find what you want and you order.
at any rate... you buy through them and it really keeps the "dealer hounds and thier little monkeys" off your back.. cause they don't want to bother you anyway if they are not going to get the sale!... Its all about them you know!!!!
If I walked on a lot and they treated me with respect knowing I was not going to buy from them.. I would make a point to come back and buy from them!!! But it seems all fake and fancy suits and fancy smiles to trick.

A broker won't maul you or leave you feeling like a jerk cause you didn't help some salesman feed his thirteen kids... 4 of which are in college! They know their job is to find you a rig you want for the price you want, or they don't earn a commission!...
I know this is prob easy money for Bob, but by using the leverage of his many buys he gets prices we can't get without him... thats the whole of the business. And 250.00 is pretty cheap earnings for what they are saving you.

Again.. I want to reinterate some DEALERS are good folks and their good morals leave them at a disadvantage against the tricksters out there... but the Good Lord always takes care of those who treat others like they would want to be treated.
I am getting no kickbacks, no reward fee, or anything such has ever been mentioned to me by Bob... I am letting you guys know about this because the forum allows it and I like helping others that help me...
I have gained alot out of this forum already and want to give some back...

Others may actually like the warm and fuzzy security of a big dealership to deal with... After being a car driver for over 30 years... a dealership does not make me feel warm and fuzzy in the least! In fact I have to constantly watch my back to realize that most of the nicest salesman are also the slickest and most slippery and have learned the arts of salesmanship to make the customer feel "warm and fuzzy"...
I think honesty does that the best....
"This is the deal and we are here for you if you need us..." what happened to that?.. but now a-days... an honest living is not good enough.. they want to raise the price even above what Toyota themselves has suggested as the sales price! "because they can makes it ok?" They want to make you feel like your special that they will sell you a car and you can wait in line until they have time to deal with you!.... Heck I have only found "one" dealer that even has a prius on the lot in my area!... Only one keeps a car on hand just for a demo.. the others are arrogant enough that they think you should walk in... without ever even have test driven one to test its feel and ride... pick a color that you have never seen up close possibly, not be able to even look under the hood of a car with totally new technology, and pay extra just to get on the list and then pay above MSRP to get your car!... boy what arrogant jerks... screw them!...
I will either not buy at all, or buy used or travel to find a car before I get treated like a second class beggar trying to buy a car!
Anyway... a broker removes all that.
