I am having problems seeing the digital display on the instrument panel when i am driving into the sun or even when the sun is in the rear of the car. The display is fine when driving on a cloudy day but let the sunshine and i can barely see the mph i am driving much less whereb i am at on the echo bar. Anyone haveing a problem with this?

I have trouble at times seeing the climate control lcd screen on very bright days when wearing sunglasses, but I have never had trouble seeing the speedometer area or the MID.

I am sure you have checked, but the brightness control is up all the way right? Easiest and about only thing to check just to make sure...

For maximum daytime viewing, make sure the brightness switch clicks into the maximum position.

I assume you're talking about the HID dash gauges and not the HVAC/NAV gauges on the console. I think the brightness switch adjusts dash only.

If the headlights are off, it makes no diference where the brightness switch is set. That only works with the headlights on and works great to dim the instrument lights at night or click to increase the brightness in the rain in daylight when one has the headlights on.

I am one who has trouble seeing the display during bright days. I have asked the dealer but there is nothing that can be done about it. Does antone know better?

Yup, this is maybe my #1 negative with the car: the pale green display, towards the centre of the dash. I recall soon after purchase we were driving south in bright sun with soaking wet roads throwing up glare. Near impossible to read the speedometer, and required overly lengthy glances away from the direction of travel.

The brightness control is at maximum. No problem on hazy days or cloudy ones but bright sunshine causes the dash instruments to almost dissapear and yes it's the mph and the mpg/echo / power display. I see other threads below that indicate that this is a problem for others also. thanks

My main dash display is pretty good, but that's subjective.

You might try a couple more same generation Prius and see if they are any better. At the least you will learn whether the basic design doesn't meet your desires or if you have a dim one.

Hi Folks, I got my car yesterday and I observed that when I wear polarized sun Glasses, the NAV and Temp Control screens get darker B) depending on how I tilt my head, and the HSI brightness just just needed to be set to max (clicked).

I realized that after I posted. The brightness switch only adjusts the dash display with headlights on. Actually, during the daytime, I thought the dealer could make a default program change for the brightness. I thought I remembered reading that on one of the threads.
