He said he'd be picking the painted covers today.

As my mirrors should come in from Nigel next week, I am going to try to attack the blue wire this weekend. That's the best wire to use for the puddle lights. I will post my results. Stay tuned....

No idea yet. The last report was that they would be shipped last week. I don't know if anyone has received them.

In the future, just if it helps, my mother works "on the inside" of the USPS, and they have more up-to-date info, and more detailed info than we can see as "outsiders"... I frequently import plants from Thailand and other foreign places, and she helps me keep tabs on my packages, as some of the plants are quite rare and expensive... She frequently does the same for my friends... SO, if anyone needs help tracking something, she can normally find out more than you'd see on the public site. All I'd need is the tracking info to give to her.... If it helps!

Nigel wanted to process all the mirrors together (probably to avoid having to hear from those of us wondering why we haven't gotten ours when we see others getting theirs already) and the last time I checked with him, they were still waiting for some of them to fully dry out and wax. But that was a week ago so I'm sure they'll be ready to ship out (or for pick up) at any minute.

If you are able to tap the Blue wire underneath the dash would be great! You wouldn't have to worry about damaging the side curtain airbags when trying to get the wires down the B-pillar like I did. Luckily, I didn't puncture anything and hopefully I don't have to open it up anymore in the future!

According to the door sills installation instruction, the light would turn off right away after the door is closed (driver's side for example). It doesn't have any "fading" effect.
[IMG]the white driving lights...... I've seen those on some FJ Cruisers. No practical purpose, just for the look, I think. Since I have already spent the time to connect them, I am not going to disable them.

I don't recommend tying the entry light to the door light/illuminated door sill light because when you unlock the door remotely, the entry light will not illuminate therefore defeats the purpose of being called a puddle light because it can't show you if there's a puddle of water by the door or not.

... therefore, connecting the puddle lights to the dome light wires should be the best idea.

What about connecting the puddle lights to the footwell lights? They seem to have the same timing as the dome light, and they're a heck of a lot easier to access.

BTW, Nigel sent an e-mail saying he's been packing our lights for shipment this weekend. I expect we'll start seeing them this week.

^ The footwell lights stay on, even when the doors are closed and car is in Drive. The light ouput is just slightly dimmed.

^ I wish! I can't even account for any free time in the last 2 months.... However, after the end of May, I will have a lot of free weekends, so I will dedicate one of those weekends to the install. I have all my prep material ready to go.

^ are you tapping into the rear dome for the puddle light signal?

Does anyone know if the rear dome light has to be Switched "ON" in order for the puddle lights to "fade" in and out?(I want the puddle lights on but not the interior dome)

I will tap into the overhead dome light as Civicsky did his. The footwell lights will keep the puddle lights on at all time.

That's a good question. Maybe Civicsky can provide some insight on how this works??

If you refer to the first page of this DIY, I tapped my puddle light wires with the third (-) wire inside the rear dome light housing and (+) on the bulb support. So that your puddles lights up exactly the same as your rear dome but remain off even if your back seat passengers turn the interior light on manually.

^ thanks, I realize they can be turned on in isolation. But what im wondering is if the rear light has to be turned ON for the puddles to work(I.e How else would the puddle get the "fade" signal)

I just tested mine and your front map lights and rear dome have to be at "Door" settings to make those mirrors puddle lights to lit.
