    The variables are enormous
I live on a dead flat flood plain, I never travel over 61 MPH, I carry 500 lbs of tools, I run the headlights all the time, I need A/C 10 months of the year, I commute 55 miles each way on cruise control with a single stop sign 18 miles into the commute, I tinted the windows. I use E10 87 octane gas, it never gets below 30F here but is already over 80F on the first of May. I have the grill blocked in the winter and run 40 PSI front and 40 PSI rear Low Rolling Resistance tires in the stock size.

    Your variables will be different.

Jimbo speaks the truth. Length of trips and terrain are huge.

Short trips=bad for mileage, but you're likely using significantly less gas over time getting 45 mpg if you drive a couple miles to work versus someone getting 65 mpg driving far distances, so in my mind that's not always a bad thing.

Terrain is wildly variable and could easily be the difference between a 40 mpg tank and a 60 mpg one.

For Gen II tips might I suggest my blog :) You'll see the "beginner tips" over on the right sidebar.

There you go mike way to get a little self promotion in !

While your mileage numbers are avg the best suggestion would be to just read as many threads as you can.
