I have the Nav Package which came with XM. I did not extend the service after the 3 month subscription because I did not want to pay for music I can get free over the air or can listen to from my iPod. My aggravation is having to hit the steering wheel mode button 3 times to skip over the 3 XM Tabs even though I don't have a subscription to XM! Is there a way to disable these tabs or make them invisible? One would think if the service is not available the tabs would not be visible...

Don't think so. Its like those plain plastic inserts they put in the dash when you don't get whatever option that would put a switch there. Its suposed to remind you that you're cheap, cheap, cheap. :nono:

I remember reading on another post where someone recommended deleting any preset channels that you have. If you do not have any presets programmed then the Mode button will evidently skip this feature.

I'll bet if you disconnected the XM receiver from the head unit the SAT radio tab would disappear.

How accessible is the XM unit? Is that's what's located under the driver's seat? I'd be willing to try it and see...

Yes--under the driver's seat. Attached below are install instructions for the iPod/USB connector, which included details on the XM receiver, which is where the connector attaches.

    Stream,

Thanks for the PDF! I went out this morning and pulled the white connector on the far right side of the XM unit, and sure enough, the SAT Tab grayed out and Mode skips right over it now! If you have Nav and the factory installed USB, be sure to pull just the connector that plugs into the back of the XM and not the one that plugs into the Harness or you'll disable the USB Jack also.

After buttoning everything up and running through all the options, all the other Modes still work fine! You can still see the SAT Tab, but as I mentioned previously, it's now grayed out and the steering wheel mounted Mode switch will skip right over it and take you directly from FM to CD! Thanks for the help!

I don't know if I'd consider it genius as much as dumb luck, but hey, it worked...

Worked on my III, with NAV. One of the most useful tips, ever, on Priuschat!
