If the threads I've read are right, there is no inverter temp xgauge, but there is a very useful inverter coolant temp xgauge. I haven't been able to find the xgauge entry codes for inverter coolant temp, and if it does exist, it'd be awesome for someone to post it in this thread.

Could someone help me with that? Searches are turning up cold...

I am not aware of any CAN message reporting the inverter coolant temperature. Yes if that exists then it will be good to have.

any more updates for gen 2? ccl and cdl?

As I asked on XGauge (CAN-bus) for Dummies... - Page 12 - CleanMPG Forums, anyone know if the Gen II Prius xls still being actively updated or have people moved onto other things (e.g. 3rd gen Prius)? The file at the beginning of this thread seems to be identical to the one at cleanmpg and hasn't been updated since 9/2009.

I found https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AiHL0r_2nhUEdF9lVVBxOVNoN3Zva3E0NmdZTUR1eVE&hl=en#gid=5 via some other thread but the Gen II tab says "This is outdated information! Get a new copy from the location above". The above location is the above thread.

I also had a question about ccl and cdl. I haven't looked at them much, but these values seem always below 11 for me. That doesn't sound right at all, if they're supposed to be in amps. Outside air temps were below 50 F at the time and the car was cold.

I've seen values for Bta that are correct (~-19 amps while coasting, 90+ amps if I floor the car, -60 amps or "more" while braking, etc.)

I have an 06 Prius and SG firmware 3.15. I have no trouble w/any other XGauges that I've entered.

So, for the less sophisticated of us, does this mean the Gen-II Prius absolutely cannot report coolant temp or MG temps through a ScnGauge 2?

The short answer is that the SCII cannot display MG1/MG2 temps.

The problem is that the ScanGauge can only report the first few items in a message. The temperatures are at about byte 30, far beyond what the current firmware can access. Complain to Linear Logic - it's all a matter of priorities. I suspect that they're working on a ScanGauge III that will support this type of display.

I read from CleanMPG that there is a trial version, 3.18f, that can handle the flow control frame.

Possible Gen 3 Prius codes for ScanGauge - CleanMPG Forums

No idea why it is not released to public. Perhaps if more people demand for it, Linear Logic may release it?

It seems that somebody knows how to convert Xgauge codes to Torque. Hope he will update here:

Any idea why my scangauge often has a minus sign on my MPG?

Also, any way to set the traction battery fan to "on"?

Would this at all help to read items at around byte 30 so we can see MG1 and MG2 temps?

I've corresponded w/Linear Logic and plan to send my SGII for upgrade to 4.02 next week.

Nobody knows the answer until someone volunteer to test it on their Gen2 or Gen3. I know Bob Wilson has registered using his wife's Gen3 for the upgrade. I would have done the same if my Gen1 were to use CAN.:(

jdcollins5 is doing beta testing for the multi-frame msg. on Gen3 with success. Anyone with 4.05 like to test on their Gen2?

Cool this would give incentive to upgrade firmware.

Since I received 4.05 as part of the offer mentioned earlier, I recently received a list of XGauges to try out. It included all the values for the above + others. After a quick glance, it looks like the above are identical to a subset of what I received but the RXF values are totally different between the above and my list.

Anyhow, I tried the ones LL gave me and they seem to work. I think the values I'm seeing for inverter and MG temps make sense.

Unfortunately, I received the list while in the middle of my move (from WA to CA) and have very limited time right now to experiment w/things. I'm busy unpacking and setting things up at home. I also am still encountering the problems at http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...on/95208-scangauge-4-05-problems-2nd-gen.html, even when it seems like I don't make entry errors.

Usually, after entering an XGauge as directed from the list I received, the XGauge won't work, SG gets into wonky states (e.g., garbage chars instead of gauge name, going into XGuage editing menu is messed up (cycles between XGauges 35-39, which makes no sense or won't get beyond XGauge 5), etc.). I have to pull the plug, reattach, re-edit the XGauge, space (blank) out the extra 0s in the TXD field, etc. to "fix" things. It's quite painful.

Dan, thanks for all the work you've done on XGauges.
I'm in Australia, and have a Gen2 Prius 2007 with a brand new ScanGauge (4.06 firmware), seems to work well.
I've programmed several XGauges from your spreadsheet and so far so good.
My question: Is there any reason why I should'nt try the settings for "Reverse Beep Disable", RBS from Adrian Black's and your Gen 3 spreadsheet (TXD in the 07 range)?
If it just won't work, that's understandable but can any harm be done?

In the first note from Dan., he talks about ccl and cdl. He says that they should be watched. I just installed a ScanGauge II on a 2008 Prius. I am getting values for both variables on the order of "10". What do these variables monitor and is "10" a reasonable value? Any information on these two variables would be appreciated. Do soc and btv as well as gas mileage help to monitor HV battery health?

ccl and cdl are limits in charge and discharge current (temperature dependent) and I don't think we can do much to influence the values. If you have more or less fixed driving conditions and one day all of a sudden see big changes in the patterns of SOC and MPG then the HV battery may need to be checked. Hi phdchp,

CCL & CDL are described in this link.

Unless your SOC goes below 40% or above 80%, these 2 values should be more than 0. It seems like your values are 10 times too low. Perhaps there is an error in the scaling? Dan. uses 8 in RXF and I believe he forgot to multiply by 10 in MTH.
