I was checking out a Corolla last time I was at the dealership and I really liked the wheels, it belonged to one of the service advisors. I asked him what kinda wheels they were he told me they were SSR wheels. So when I got home I searched SSR wheels and found out they make wheels geared towards hybrids. I am wondering if anybody here is running them or have done any research on them.

Here is the URL, SSR Wheels and a cool pic of a sweet looking Gen. 3 from the SSR site. I like the Type C wheels. ssr wheels whiteprius_c.jpg

The only pricing I could find puts them out of my reach at $300+ per wheel. At that price I'd rather get the Drag Wheels or MSR wheels both of which are in the $135 range. The gas savings from the reduced weight on the SSR wheels would take a very long time to cover the extra cost. :(

SSRs are great wheels, I had them on my previous Solo II Miata. Downside, they're somewhat pricey. To echo F8L, if you're looking for big boost in fuel economy by running with a lighter wheel, you're not going to really save alot...especially given the offset of the cost of the wheels. However, if you're going on sheer look...SSRs are a good bet.

If you don't mind running a used set, you could also search eBay for some used SSR Type C (or Competition)... There are decent sets that pop up every once in a while, especially from old WRX owners.
I think Deltron signed up for their sponsorship program and said they were still pricey even with the discount. Sharp looking rims though.

I was not really thinking about FE regarding these wheels. I just like the look of the type-c's. It does kick nice person that they are light though. There are three distributers here on Oahu I am going to call and get a price for a set. It is more so just wishful thinking on my part, my tires are still new and my wife would probably not be to happy if I dropped 2k on wheels and tires.

Does anybody know if these wheels will accept TPMS sensors?
