    Help!
I finally get a chance tonight to install my new Vais AIC-100i (which I've had for 3 weeks). The physical installation was enjoy (thanks hybrideyes), but when I turn on the prius and selection the Ipod (second selection on the MD player), it displays the song/artist, but I dont' get any sound. Anyone have this problem?

Doublecheck that you have the RCA plugs from the ipod interface cable connected to the correct RCA plugs on the VAIS box. You should have the cables plugged into the two connectors closest to the small 1/8" mini "programming" port.

I bet Dave's diagnosed it. (My initial thought was that you had it in AUX-IN mode (Channel 11), but since you're seeing the track name on the MFD, that isn't it.)

So I got it to work... but I don't know what I did. I checked the plugs.. all correct. So I found a 1/8" to RCA cable and plugged the iPod audio out into the Aux In and selected it on the stereo and I got sound... so I drove to work this morning listening to the ipod via the Aux-In. Then I stopped at Starbucks and got some coffee, as I'm getting back in the car, I'm like... "let's try this one more time", so I plugged the iPod into the connector and selected it on the stereo and it WORKED! I think Starbucks makes everything better. :D

    Thanks,
    -Dennis

Crazy - I had just the same experience today! Installed the unit in my (German) Prius, connected my iPod Nano, got titles and everything, but no sound! A few hours later at home I connected an iRiver H340 to the Aux-In and was surprised to hear music. After that I gave the Nano a second try and it works now!

One problem still unsolved: after switching to anything else like FM and back to the iPod I would expect it to resume (after pausing) at the same location. It seems to try that but after some seconds of jumping around it starts at the beginning of the title. This would be a very big problem with my collection of audiobooks, some of which are quite large files.

I was in the 2nd group buy, firmware is 3.48. I really want to avoid sending the unit back for update - it's just too expensive from Germany. Any ideas?

    Regards,
    Johann

No ideas, but I have a workaround that appears (I say appears, mind you) to solve most of those problems.

    Before:
    • Turning the car off
    • Switching from the VAIS to FM (or some other sound source)
I switch the stereo power off. (Then I push the FM button to start the radio up).

When I restart the car, or switch back to the VAIS from FM, it seems to remember right where I was.
