Wow.. lots of mony to payout when you got a realy nice car. I would take my car to a custom shop, see about adding noise reduction to doors. I know someone has a post on that already. I would check out some custom sets, and get the new cool led mirrors. Maybe a after market battery upgrade with your very short driving distance. Sounds like you drive like 15 miles during the week a day. And then take your wife car on the weekend. Sounds like you have car fever. Just buy some new toys for your car. You could check into some other shocks maybe. My wife is thinking about geting rid of the Nissan Altma, I am getting car fever also but my wife is not that green so I get board with her sugestions. She does not like the CT200h. She would love the the IS250...lots of cash and no gas savings.

Anyways I think it is funny that you are all worked up again just like when yoy got your Prius III 5 w/Tec pack... Good luck!

Yeah, my wife says I'm just bored and the CT is too small. I say I'm getting older and want a bit more luxury. Like you though, I find the other luxury alternatives boring.

I really only looked at the CT in the first place because I was curious if they had managed to make the ride any better with the double wishbone in the back and the special lateral dampeners. I do think the ride is better - there's a lot less vibration into the cabin and it absorbs bumps a bit better (i.e., more pliant, a little less general bumpiness). Also a bit better handling. Probably still a lot stiffer than what most people think of as a luxury ride, but that never seemed to hurt BMW any.

But the CT seats and the low center of gravity are what really sucked me into this fit of car fever. There's a very planted feeling in this car that just isn't there in the camry or the prius, and the seats are just heavenly compared to the prius. If you can live without the extra tech (PCS, LEDs, Nav), the price ain't bad either.

It is a sporty hatch, and while the class has been around for a long long time (like the VW sport hatch of 20+ years ago) they really haven't made a dent here in the states. All over Europe though. This "luxury sport hatch" category is a bit newer and really there is only the BMW and Audi offerings to compete at the moment. Perhaps put the Porsche Panamera in there just because it sort of the same market, sporty without being race sporty.

So competitors are low. The feel of the CT is very nice. The heft of the materials is far superior. I think this is a car that would sell if nobody knew it was a hybrid. It would just be an extra perk.

I'm not going on a waiting list for a car though unless it is a Tesla. Reason we went to check it out is because 30+ vehicles on their lot got a few $K worth of damage from wind storms (80mph sustained, gusts 120mph and above) and were just taking that off of MSRP. Suspiciously only new cars were damaged... Hmm. Lexus is like any other dealership I suppose, but I took a couple free muffins while I was there to make up for it. :)

Well, the Lexus dealers may be making up my mind for me. One tried to add a 5% markup over MSRP (without admitting it). The other hasn't gotten back to me in over a week, despite promising to run a special order through their system (to see if it got rejected due to lack of the high end electronic parts). I could go out of my area and even out of my region, but I may just take this as a sign not to buy right now. Seems to be a lot of uncertainty right now about what Lexus can do, and how soon they can do it. Also makes me nervous that they might start substituting from other parts suppliers without fully vetting parts quality. Trying to get one anytime soon is starting to look like a big PITA.

Despite having developed a long list of reasons not to buy this car, including the paying of full MSRP, I'm still interested. There is no rational reason, I just liked the way it felt, looked and drove, and have grown weary of the Prius ride quality. However, I'm still very interested in getting a plug in. Not sure I want to get a Prius plug in though, and not sure I want to wait 2 to 3 years for a plug in CT or other Lexus plug in to show up.

    Earthquake Strikes Again!

Here's the message I got from my dealer:

"I apologize for taking so long but kept hearing that I would have info any day....well I got info today and I feel like the grinch that stole Christmas. Special Orders are on Hold until November. All special orders will be 2012 year models and we have NO IDEA on pricing. This would put us at January or February delivery on special orders. I know this is not what you wanted to hear, but I am only the messenger."

So, nearly impossible to get a fully loaded model with PCS and LED headlights. Maybe I'll be getting the Prius plug in after all...

Hmmm, I'd wager you're more of a sporti-esque car aficionado. Hang in there on the CT. Sorry it's going to be such a wait.

If I'm so sporty, why do I keep wishing for a softer ride? :D
On the other hand, that CT 300h is sounding pretty tempting....

Why not look at the HS 250H? Bigger, nicer and more comfortable. I have a 2011 Prius and my best friend has the HS....is car is way more comfortable than my Prius. Having said that he has 37,000 miles on in under a year and he averages 36-39mpg. He also paid 39K loaded. Seems like the perfect car for you

Hey, this is my neurotic thread! LOL! :D My U.S. dealer tells me there are no special orders until November. If you mean you have the opportunity to put your name on a waiting list and hope that something close to the color and equipment you want gets allocated to your dealer and not snatched by someone higher on the list, it isn't real encouraging. It's a lot of money to spend if you aren't getting exactly what you want. It's a great time to be selling a Prius, though, with resale value going up. Personally, I've decided to wait and see what the CT 300h brings next year. I would really like my next car to be a plug in. I might even settle for the plug in Prius.

Size - After using my Prius to carry 46 concrete blocks this week, I found myself wondering if I could of gotten away with that in a CT.

Mileage - Do you have 17" wheels? Do you do mostly short trip driving? Do you drive less than 10,000 miles a year? If yes, then I doubt MPGs is much of an issue. Real world mileage reports for CT seems to be pretty close to what I get in my Prius.

Yes i do have the 17 inchs wheels, so i think the mileage would probably seems the same than my Prius.......

I still dont know what to do!

Maybe you should keep the Prius since it is so new to you. If you got the CT, you'll get used to how it drives, but you may never get used to less space.

    hi.
i am new to Prius, but currently owns lexus rx350 07 full options and a prius 2011. I know how you feel. of course lexus is way better off. if i knew there is such CT 200h lexus, i'd not buy the prius. gas mileage is 10 miles different? there is no point but you gain a lux class. however, services are more expensive with lexus. but hey, you will get 4 years free services if i am not mitaken. go for a lexus my friend. best of luck. honestly, prius is not smooth and comfort.

    :cheer2:

Also own a 2007 Lexus RX350 fully loaded (nav/bluetooth/camera/dvd/afs HID, everything). I would argue the Prius is better. Shifts smoother (because there is NO shifting!) is quieter around town (not on the highway) and all the same features as the Lexus without the nice telescoping steering wheel and seats.

The Lexus is nice to sit in and makes you feel grand. But that feeling goes away when you put in $70 and went 300 miles. Or when you pay $1600 for 60k service, and so on and so on.

Coming back from my CT200h test drive I can recognise many of the things being said about it in this thread. It really does feel like a prius that has been shrunk and given some very sticky tires.

I tried a Level II and am still wondering about the key fob. It is identical to my Prius fob, allows smart start but (unlike my Prius and iQ) not smart entry. For smart entry I have to shed a lot of extra money for level IV specs. How come it is so prohibitively expensive to have such a basic luxury when the key already is half smart from the entry level?

Very simple and same thing they did on the prius. If you want convenience luxuries, then you opt for the higher package. Since the higher package also includes more tech upgrades (read as fancy pants electronics that cost peanuts to make and can be sold under the guise of being incredibly expensive) people are more likely to think it is a "good deal" because you get all of that stuff for only a few thousand more.

Every car manufacturer is guilty of this unfortunately.

I just find the premium for this kind of equipment in the Lexus to be way too expensive compared to Toyota models.

I guess my final decision will be to purchase a base CT as a replacement for the Prius IV and keep my iQ as the gadget-mobile (it matches the Prius IV with satnav).
It just feels odd to own a micro car that out-specs a brand new Lexus hybrid... but then. It's an odd feeling to to own an iQ anyway :-D

That's the point though. A luxury car's base price is usually attainable by most people. The extras is where the money is. On some vehicles the extras can be more than half of the cost of the base. Toyota can't pull that because it is not considered a luxury brand. Lexus is, so they do. If you can't afford the fully loaded model, then you can't afford that model. It is silly to buy a base of any luxury car because you are essentially getting a rebadged whatever that's below it for more money with none of the good bits.
