According to the article, KUDOS to Toyota of Hollywood in Los Angeles for refusing to charge over MSRP even during periods of increased demand and short supply. Here's a case where we need a PriusChat database of all the good Toyota dealers!

$1000 off my 2010 MSRP in '09, thanks to a hungry salesman. I've never regretted the purchase after seeing the gas prices in '08. Live and learn, no standing in line this time. :D

Want to read something really funny, click on the link the OP provided and read some of the comments left on that site.

Some folks still have NO clue about the FACTS regarding the Prius.

It makes me grateful I bought mine in December when they were plentiful and Toyota even had all the incentives. With the dealer discount I got mine for ~$2500 below invoice. I'm sure the dealer still made money on it. :)

    Prii in Hot Demand?

    Tell me about it.

Just for kicks, because I'm NOT in the market for a used Prius, but just for fun I check the local Craigslist to kind of keep an eye on the local price of used Prius and hybrids...just the last few weeks prices on USED Prius have sky rocketed.

I think people are trying to be opportunistic and I don't know if they are actually "getting" the price they are asking, but I've seen 2-3 year old Prius, Gen 2..being priced at what you could buy a NEW Prius Gen 3, just a few weeks back...

    One comment "
I heard that the average price to replace one of these batteries is about $6,000... and that they only last about 3-4 years. If that is the case, you couldn't give me one."

Some people are so clueless that it's scary. Glad I bought mine two years ago. Look out the gas price has dropped a few cents and people will be jumping back into gas hogs.

I bought a 2011 IV a week ago for $750 below sticker. It was, however, the third Prius I had bought from the dealer - 2008, 2010, 2011.

That is exactly when and why I got mine. I saw a lot of idiots causing problems for Toyota, and I thought, I should go take advantage of that while I can. And today is the first time I have seen CarMax Laurel Toyota out of Prii.

My wife and I just bought ours last week (IV w/ Navi). We ended up paying exact invoice and didn't get any special financing or rebates. Oh well... The monies we will be saving on gass will more than make up the difference. I just wish we would have looked at them sooner. I was, like most people turned off by them at first. But after driving ours I feel quite the opposite!!

Yeah, the amount of cluelessness and misinformation about hybrids is extremely annoying. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...information-anti-hybrid-anti-prius-folks.html is a great place to discuss it.

That makes perfect sense. I looked around and found that the one local dealer selling AT MSRP was insisting that customers finance through them. I smelled a rat at that, because as long as you have the money to pay them what is the problem? They can't eek out more profit from financing if you pay in cash or have your own, I suppose. Other dealers were all selling with a markup of at least $1000 over MSRP. Not exactly a way to win me over as a customer.
