I was just charge $128.85 for three radios for the next year! I have three XM radios (for three different cars). Each radio subscription ends on different dates (January, March, and April). Last year I received the ½ price deal ($77.00 on each radio). Last month I received a renewal notice at a renewal plan for $38.85 per quarter plus U.S. Royalty Fee.

I called XM today (1 877 224 8720) and explained that the service was not worth the price to me. I further explained that I would not like them to renew my service for that price. I was transferred to the Cancellation Department. I explained again that the service was not worth it for me at the full price. I was quickly told I could be offered the ½ price deal for an additional year. I accepted.

While the representative was putting all three of my radios on the same renewal date, each was pro-rated (the pro-rated charges would be $66.35, $53.94, and $59.03). I was told with the pro-rated radios I would be charged $168.86 for the combined three radios for one year service ending January 19, 2012. A couple of minutes of fussy math later, I was told I will be charged $128.85 total ($49.31, $19.77, and $59.77) to continue service on all three for the next year. I accepted the deal.

XM seems very willing to work with you on price. I did not use any deceit or threats. I simply told them I was not willing to pay for the originally quoted price for the service. The second representative was very pleasant and I thanked him for the offer he had extended me. I am sure XM would like to keep customers even if that cuts into their bottom line a little.

The cancellation dept offered me a renewal of $89.46 as a one time courtesy.

My 3 month trial subscription was set to expire in 11 days when I got a call from Sirius/XM. I'd previously returned 2 full price renewal notices that I'd written "No Thanks. Too expensive" across the invoice. Today they offered me a 6 month renewal for $4.99 a month. For greater convenience to me, they offered another deal at $7.92 per month for 12 months. (I would have a longer period at a discounted rate before the $12.99 per month fee kicked in.) I declined this and took the 6 month/$4.99.

I asked him for the expiration date so I could put a reminder on my calendar to call and cancel the automatic renewal because I wasn't going to pay full price. He said that they'd most likely call me with another offer.

In the future please try to stay on topic. This topic is not about alternatives to XM. Thanks.

Honestly, start a thread for Pandora and post there. This topic is about renewing XM in a Prius. Not whatever "cm" is in a Nissan or how great Pandora is. Thanks.

They still have $4.99/mo for 5 months plus royalty fee. Just renewed at that. Plus $3.99/mo for Nav.

They also offered $6.42/mo for 12 months.

As usual from these posts - mention too expensive and cancelling and they come back with plans.

Another data point: Five days ago I just renewed for the 2nd year at $77 + royalty + tax. Total was $95.19. Always say you want to cancel, then the Cancellation Dept starts to deal--as many others have noted.

Always go straight to the Cancellation Department. This appears to be located in the US and you are talking with Americans that speak good English. These people know all of the deals and are willing to work with you.

I have renewed twice and both times through the Cancellation Department received the $77 discount with no problems and very cordial people on the other end.

I just renewed my annual subscription for $77 plus tax, with no music royalty fees. The total came to $84.59.

my trial subscription was about to run out in a couple of days when Sirius gave me a call. They offered $5 a month for 6 months and i took that on the spot. just need to make sure (marked on calendar) to cancel it unless they give me a good offer.

They keeping calling, but I would consider renewing ONLY if it worked like Pandora (because I don't have/use a BT phone).

I took 1 hour and 3 minutes to get the deal of $85 a year. I was on hold forever, thank goodness for bluetooth headset.

Three days ago I got a 6 mos. service for about $26. You have to go through the cancellation dept. and tell them you are not willing to continue service at the regular rate. It's important to call days before your subscription is about to end.

Meh...SiriusXM can take a long walk off a short pier as far as I'm concerned. I hate the way they do business (excessive emails, phone calls, prices that change based on where you are in your contract, junk mail, easy to subscribe/pain in the backside to cancel), plus I get tired of hearing the same old songs with a bunch of commercial breaks. I thought that was supposed to have been one of the biggest benefits of going to sat radio...no (or far fewer) commercials.

    Pandora FTW.

    Carnutt is correct.

call ONLY the last day or so of your contract and ask for CANCELLATION.
they will offer the same - the 77/y (+licensing fee) rate but may only offer for 6 m rather than the annual.

I also cancelled the automatic renewal. I'm certain they will contact many times over trying to keep you subscribed. (I use it more for BBC news.)

My 6 month "special" ran out today and I was facing a $77 + royalties for a 6 month renewal. I called to cancel and was offered 5 months for $25. So, I renewed.

After one year, I got a renewal invoice for $177.43. I called the 800 number and asked for renewal at the $77.00 (plus royalty fee.)

Answer: No. The $77 rate is no longer available.

I said no thank you to the $177. They transferred me to the cancellation department. I found I had to actually say the magic word, "Cancel," and then they offered me the old rate.

I choose to pay by check, so there were minimal junk fees added.

When my trial period ended they gave me 6 months with best of Sirius for $36. I had to make it very clear that I wanted it canceled after the 6 months. They tried to evergreen me. Once that expired they would not work with me at all. When I told them I no longer wanted the service they offered me 3 months free. I then had to call back and add the best of Sirius and traffic for $12 for all 3 months. I'll have to wait and see what deals they offer in November. :)
