Hello, I'd like to get opinions of what you think of 3rd gen Prius driving position adjustability.

Pollsters remain anonymous. Feel free to select multiple choices.

    I would like -

to be able to adjust seat down a little lower
to be able to telescope steering wheel a little closer to me
tilt wheel down lower since seat lower
door armrest a little higher and padded more

    That's it. How about you?

My 2011 has fabric seats, package II. I find the front edge of the driver's seat to be a bit high under my knees (short legs). Moving the seat further forward is not a good option. I'm about 5'3".

Down with conventional cars ... crush them all!

Before you do....let's take some of their seats to replace Priuses' seats with!!! :)
Then....you could crush the conventional cars and the G3 seats at the same time!!!

It might not be as good as world peace, but it would still be pretty dang good!

If you took the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel adjustability of a Lexus RX and stuffed them in the Prius, I would be an extremely happy camper.

I don't have a GenIII, but a II, and I find the seats just fine. But that extra bit of plushness would be nice to have.

So the steering wheel telescopes to and from, and retracts when the car is off. So when you press power, it comes towards you to your preprogrammed position. It also goes up and down and tilts.

The sideview mirrors point down to the ground when in reverse, and back up when not in reverse.

The seat goes up and down, backwards and forwards, reclines (obviously), the bucket can become a tighter or looser V. And on some models there is some bar thing in the back that can be moved around. I find the bar extremely annoying but some praise it.

If we are doing all this might as well incorporate the heated and AC cooled seats as well.

Actually, just bolt in a pair of RX seats and call it a day Toyota!

It was just a bit of humorous twist on EV1. Came to mind while driving 3rd gen getting no less than 55 MPG whether city or highway.

    cycledrum,

It's curious because I have found in my experience that Toyota seats do what I want them to do. I would like more lumbar support, but I find the seats very pleasant and comfortable for me. My back does not hurt and there's enough cushion to support me, etc.

I like the steering wheel position.

I like the height adjustment. It is very necessary because people of different heights will have to adjust for the decreased visibility in the rear.

Since you are into Hondas, I will say Honda seats seem to bunch up, hurt my back, makes my back sweat, etc. I haven't driven a later model Honda in a while though.

Like you, i find no ill from the Prius seating.

However, not sure about Honda seating, but my wife's Acura TSX seating is superb!! Comfortable, yet sporty...huggy without being too claustrophobic. However, at least for the TSX, the seats are HUGE and thick! I am sure that the seat weighs a lot, compared to the Prius seat. In addition because they are thick, it does intrude into knee space for rear passengers.

So, for the Prius, i think that it is a compromise. It provides enough support without thick bolster since it is not really a sports car (to need it)...and allows it to accomodate a wide range of body types. And the thinness of the seat allows for cavernous rear passenger space and saves weight. (In a sports car or sports-oriented car, the rear seating space is of lesser importance because the main focus is on the driver.) I can tell you that my kids appreciate daily the space that the Prius front seats allow.

Although i fit fine in the Prius, I purchased seat extenders from Extendmyseat.com. It now allows me to sretch my legs should I choose to do so. I am 6'3" and this extra leg room is appreciated.

I'm not that into Hondas. They don't have HSD or equivalent :)

Hopefully this poll doesn't seem too nitpicky. Things can always be improved. Optimal adjustability is good. Few of results so far are 'telling'.

I'd like to have the steering wheel a little closer and down a bit more, but I am adjusting to it. My old 2000 Grand Am took some getting used to, and it wasn't telescopic, but I could adjust it down to my liking.

Hate to skew results, but surprised I'm only one voting to have seat be able to lower little more. At 6'2", I look down onto roadway little too much and would like to see upward more. Wonder how 6'6" people getting by. Ducking?

I also vote to "have more padding on center console".

I really wish the steering wheel would move closer to me, I'm 6'3" and it's to far away making me have to move the seat up and then that makes my knee's bend more.

*Ability* to adjust seat lower, and high enough for you too.

5'8" ... you're set. Most cars probably adjust right on up to you.

That armrest seems to be made for a person with a shorter upper body length. I don't lean on the door or armrests when drive but hold onto the wheel with both hands :)

Had a fun ride yesterday in NE Ohio on roads that had real abrupt short hills. Actually felt the rear swing out to one side on a hill that I just had to hit at 70 something  Felt like a roller coaster ride. Maybe someday I can get a video made of a rental Prius flying

Then center console armrest must be for taller person, 'cause like an obsessive, I used a yardstick, level and ruler between the center console armrest and door armrest ...........

    uh ohhh! :D
