Beginner - Custom Stereo on package II questions

let go to car gps - auto dvd - buy car navigation radio from QualiR and select prius 2010 as a car. They have two sets and Toyota Universal HU running winCE 6.0 for about $550 shipped from China. Buy teh reverse camera (Camry09) as well. It is probably cheapest option. Or, search the P2010/ Audio section for the keyword "chinese".

Changed you mind? Thinking of buying new? Although almost anything is better than the stock Level II system, make sure it's not just marginally better, or you're just waisting money. I recommend you do a hands/ears on before buying, what ever you decide.

 

I ran into the problem when looking for a head unit that all the cool looking ones were double din and way too much money. Decided to keep my double din 6 CD. Had I the regular unit I would have just tossed it and went single din tho. The nice thing about the gen 3 vs the gen 2 or gen 1 is that the radio is a real radio instead of being controlled by the touchscreen.

 

Any idea what the differences between the models? The Toyota Universal HU looks like it has a slightly larger screen.

The prius specific models have similar descriptions.

 

Single DIN and Double DIN generally refers to the height of the unit.

Hiya Paja - funny how things have changed - it seems the 2DIN Chinese stuff (not from Qualir - but same resolution/CPU/GPS etc) are now in the $250 range delivered. Of course, no support, and you have to wire it - but it really seems like a good cheap GPS/HU alternative. I'd do it in a second if I was on a budget... I still like the 6.2" versions vs 7" (cause of the buttons)...
