I did an earlier post that the engine in our 2006 would make a gurguling sound for up to a minute after the engine was shut off.
I received some replies, mostly saying that this noise was normal.
Well, the other day I decided to check the fluid level in the radiator's reservour & it was low so I filled it and ---- the gurguling noise has stopped.
Could this gurguling just be a warning that the radiator's fluid is a bit low ?
So far, this filling has worked for us !!
I'd bet that this is rarely checked by any dealer during an oil change ?

Only about 27m & driven by my wife to & from Walmart & an occasional road trip. Bought her new in late summer of 2006.
    Best damn car anywhere !!
    I drive a 2008 HH & am considering a Hyndai [sp?] suv.

When it did this, what was the outside temperature?

When its 90-100F, my inverter coolant pump will stay on for 30ish seconds. Most of the time, its maybe 5-10 seconds.

The outside temp probably ran from a high of 50o in the winter to 90o in the summer, here in sunny FL.

If engine coolant was low, could the sound have been air bubbles working their way out of the loop after shutdown? I haven't had a close enough look at that area to know if it is plausible.

i would be curios to know if anyone could postulate a reason for low coolant to cause a gurgling noise. great job sniffing it out!

Next question: why was the coolant low? The most common cause of low coolant is a failing engine water pump, even though that should not be a problem at so low a mileage (27,000).

Mileage starts to become a non factor when the vehicle is 5 to 6 years old.Things like how severe weather in op's area can play a part especially if vehicle has been out doors the whole time.

This 2006 has always lived inside our garage & has always had a very gentle life, until recently with gas way up in price we drive her more & the 2008 HH less.
And she always gets her FREE oil change service at the dealer where we bought her new years ago where we hope that all fluids are checked with every service.
