Hi all, My new to me 2001 Prius has a slowly flashing Airbag light. Reading this handy forum I found that by jumping two pins on the OBD port I could read the codes generated by the flashing lights. I did that, and have a 3233 and 4448. The car runs and drives fine, fluids are all good etc. Can the codes be cleared and see if they return? Any suggestions? Thanks. John

    Hi critterz,

Those codes refer to the malfunction of the side airbag.

32 (B1140) - Side airbag sensor assembly (RH) malfunction
33 (B1141) - Side airbag sensor assembly (LH) malfunction
44 (B0111) - Open in side squid (RH) circuit
48 (B0116) - Open in side squid (LH) circuit

    Procedures to clear code
    (1) Connect the 2 service wires to terminals TC and AB of DLC3.
    (2) Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait for approx. 6 seconds.
    (3) Starting with the TC terminal, ground alternatively terminal TC and terminal AB twice each in cycles of 1.0 second. Make sure that the terminals are grounded. Ensure the terminal TC remains grounded.
    HINT:
When alternatively grounding terminals TC and AB, release ground from one terminal and immediately ground the other terminal within an interval of 0.2 seconds.
If DTCs are not cleared, repeat the above procedure until the codes are cleared.
    (4) Several seconds after doing the clearing procedure, the SRS warning light will brink in a 50 - msec. cycle to indicate the codes which have been cleared.

Thank you Vincent! This makes sense. My airbag module was replaced and my car does not have side airbags. I bet the module I got (ebay) was for a side airbag equipped car. Thanks for the help! John

Hi all, I'm back again. I switched back the original airbag module and get flashing code 24 and 31. I tried unsuccessfully to clear them. Any suggestions? Driving the heck out of it and LOVE it! Hit 100000 miles today. Took a picture! Thanks all.

31 is "airbag sensor assembly malfunction" and 24 is "half connection in airbag sensor assembly". As far as I know, the airbag computer must be reprogrammed after airbags have deployed.
