    Hello All,

I just purchased my first Prius Two a few weeks ago and I have some questions that I am having trouble getting answered.

    1. I have a non-navigation radio and I have noticed that it is not illuminated at night. The 1,2,3, etc. buttons, seek, scan, text, folder, etc, are not lit up when the lights are on. The temperature controls, however, are lit up.

    2. My radio is only playing through my rear speakers and not through the front at all. I have checked the balance and fade on the radio and they are all set to 0.

I am new to the prius world and I wanted to make sure that my car is working properly. I took my car in to be looked at and the dealership told me that similar Prius Two's radios do not light up as well. I find this very hard to believe because at night it is impossible to see the controls.

If anyone has any information that would be greatly appreciated..
    Thank you so much.

    Hello,

The radio buttons on my 2011 Prius II all light up... 1,2,3, seek, scan, etc. all light up, so looks like you might have some kind of issue. Make sure the dash illumination dial is turned up all the way just to be sure, but it sounds like that's probably not your problem.

Also, the front speakers not working is an issue as well... mine work just fine. Try tuning the fade to 100% front, and if there's no sound, then your radio unit is definitely not working right.

Sounds like with the light issue and the speaker issue, there's some kind of problem either with the radio itself, or with the way it's wired.

    Hope that helps.

Exactly what I'm doing....pulling the bass boat with the F150 and driving my new 2011 Prius to work (82 miles round trip). I've only been through 3 tanks of gas but I'm getting 50.3 and each tank better than the last. Driving technique getting better, I would assume. I'm also using Eco mode on this tank to see any difference.

In our 2011, we have been showing fairly consistent numbers between the computer calc'd and hand calc'd. Typically it has been .5-1.5 mpg reading on the high side with the computer. I have been pleased with this and have noticed consectutive increases with every fill up.

For a just for grins test I drove the last tank on eco mode with the animation display and mileage display off, and drove as normally as possible, then punched the trip button at fillup and it showed 50.6. This tank I'm on normal mode, still with display off, and will see if there's any significant difference. Not very scientific but whatever. And I really didn't notice much of a change in the modes, maybe too used to the Prius linear travel vs. my other cars 1/4 inch = full accelleration.

On a recent 3200 mile trip with our 2011 Prius II, I found that the computer mileage was approximately 4 percent higher than the mileage calculated from gas pump/odometer. Much of the trip was mountainous and about half of the trip was at 65-70 mph overall mileage averaged about 50- 51mpg (Best tank was 56 mpg, worst tank was 47 mpg).

My 2011 Prius 2 has 9800 miles on in and I use Fuelly to keep track of the real mileage. I always fuel up to the first click off, then put in on until the second click off and I'm done.
The display seems to me to be about 2.3 mpg optimistic.
