Turn the bulb base counter clockwise.

ha-ha...that was dumb of me...thank you for the pointer. I tried to replace license plate lights with Luxer1 Hyper LED 194 wedge bulb but it appears that head is a bit too thick on 194...will look for a suitable replacement.

You don't want that style anyway because it doesn't shine the light down on the license plate. You need something angled at 90-degrees. The best option (other than making your own like darreldd) is to get a 5-LED wedge bulb, which has 4 diodes on the sides, 1 on the top.

well, that's interesting...I got a pair of H11 high beam halogen bulbs made by PUTCO at http://www.kbcarstuff.com/Putco-Nitro-Blue-Halogen-Bulbs-p/23nb.htm?1=1&CartID=0 a few days ago. while it is H11 (just like stock), the distance between two inner connectors is different from that in OEM. there is also some kind plastic devider between the connectors...so it doesn't fit. i guess i will have to look for another manufacturer...odd, i though H11 would be the same regardless of the manufacturer.

upd: the PUTCO bulbs are low-beams...not the high beams...that's why i couldn't install it...so high beams halogens are not H11s??
