    hello all,
i just ordered my new HU (pioneer AVIC-X930BT) for my 09 non JBL, and i decided not to jump the gun on which speakers to purchase. i know it all adds up to personal preference so im looking for Sound Quality. Decent bass would be nice (better than stock at least) but i may add a sub at a later date to pick up the slack here. With the exception of the HU i want a clean Factory look. Any suggestions on speakers and advice on installing tweeters in the stock location would be appreciated. THANKS!!!

I'm sorry I can't help you. My speakers were $1,500 retail and my tweeters didn't fit in the stock location.

Most tweeters in your price range will fit in the OEM location and you can go all the way up to a 7" midrange which should help out with bass response. The JL Audio mids usually sound nice and have decent bass output for a midrange. I would suggest going to your local car audio shop with a few of your favorite CDs and just take a listen to what they have. Sound quality is so subjective that only you know what sounds best to you. :)

So how is the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT going to be installed? Are there face plates such as this one from Metra which is for a single din, not double din?

As for speakers, I went with Infinity Kappa speakers attached to a Kicker KX350.4 amp and they sound great. I also put in a powered Kenwood amp/sub. Even the stock stereo sounds great - just wish it had better functionality, which I why I am also looking at the Pioneer GPS systems.

Pics of your install would be great

the install was much easier than i had anticipated. the pictures of having the whold dash torn apart are true but its only 9 total screws i believe. the rest were just pops and clips. as for the installation kit, i used the Scosche double din. I'm still not 100% impressed but I'm going to mess with it a little more and get it right. The microphone for the phone feature is currently tucked into the upper corner of the drivers side of the windshield but that wont be there much longer either. I'm currently looking for a factory microphone to attach to the pioneer one and mount it in the factory location. also if you are looking for a place to mount the GPS antenna with great reception and no visibility, under the top of the hatch right next to the hinge works AWESOME. there is enough room to not smash the antenna and with the lid closed it is invisible. Good luck with your install and a big thanks for the speaker advice!

That install looks good to me. I'm still shopping for mine and can't decide where to buy it from, the overpriced local dealer that will install it for $85 or save hundreds and get it on eBay or Crutchfield.

The install of the HU into the dash I know I can do, it's the wires that the AVIC-Z130BT hooks into such as speed and dimmer that have me hesitating on doing it myself.

And where is the stock location for the mic?

Wires are a piece of cake man. The wire harnesses make it simple enough and at the very worst, Google it if u need. And check out sonicelectronix.com or millionbuy.com. I use millionbuy and I got everything (radio, install kit, wire harnesses, and steering wheel control interface) for $750. Which was cheaper than going to best buy where the radio alone was 800.

Also, the stock location for the microphone, in the overhead console you will see little "slits". 3on the drivers side and 3 on the passenger side. The driver side is the stock microphone location.
