What precautions do I need to take when removing the seats from the car? Car should be off, obviously, and just unplug these connections? Do I need to disconnect the negative battery cable?

Disconnect the ground connection from the 12V battery - wait at least 90 seconds for the Air Bag system to deenergize. The Air Bag system is the yellow wire and connector.

Thanks! Could have made a bad mistake there.

Is there anything I need to do after reconnecting the system?

That's a good video for disconnecting the negative terminal, right?

Yeah, the video shows the negative terminal. I find it easier to remove the end of the cable attached to the body, but you can remove it from the post - either way is ok.

The only thing that you need to do after reconnecting the battery is to reset the auto up function on the drivers window:

RESET (INITIALIZE) POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR (for Driver Side) NOTICE: Resetting the power window regulator motor (initializing the pulse sensor) is necessary if: 1) the battery terminal cable is disconnected; 2) the power window regulator master switch assembly, wire harness, power window regulator switch, power window regulator assembly and power window regulator motor are replaced or removed / installed; or 3) the PWR H-fuse, FR DOOR fuse, GAUGE fuse and ECU-IG fuse are replaced. If resetting is not performed, the master switch assembly will not be able to operate the AUTO operation function, jam protection function and remote UP / DOWN function.
    (a) *1: Turn the power switch ON (IG).
    (b) *2: Open the power window halfway by pressing the power window switch.
    (c) *3: Fully pull up on the switch until the power window is fully closed and continue to hold the switch for at least 1 second.
    (d) *4: Check that the AUTO UP / DOWN function operates normally.
If the AUTO UP / DOWN function operates normally, reset operations are complete. If abnormal, follow steps below.
    (e) Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal cable for 10 seconds.
    (f) Connect the battery terminal cable.
    (g) Perform steps *1 to *4 again.

Why are you removing the seats? I installed the Clazzios (and seat heaters) in my car with no problem while the seats were in the car. Seems like a lot of extra work that's not required.

Will be interested in seeing your results, I installed mine with the seats in the vehicle and I'm very pleased with the results. The only piece I had to remove was the back seat.

Either way you choose to go, leave the car in the sun for a few hours after the covers are installed and then snug everything down one more time, you'll be supprised how much further the fabric will stretch! I have received many positive comments on how they look factory, and people are shocked when I tell them I installed them myself. They really are a custom fit and look awesome!

Decided against removing seats. Having difficulty with the back seat though. Namely the armrest in the rear. That seems like it's tough to get a good fit and to get it smooth. The instructions aren't that clear. Any tips?

That arm rest is tricky, you just have to massage it and twist and stretch the fabric to get it positioned the best you can. The tips in the instructions on how to align the seat covers work with the arm rest as well. I have found the extra fabric does prevent the rear arm rest from seating as snug as it did before the cover was installed, but I guess that's because it was made to some pretty close tolerances...

What about the "pit" for the arm rest to sit into? Seems like there is a lot of bellow / slack / puff in there, and it doesn't conform to the cutout where the armrest is stowed when it's not down. Any tips / tricks for that area?

Just about done at this point, but that pocket for the rear armrest still looks baggy and like nice person. I am disappointed with that part. I have no idea what to do to fix it. Do they just expect nobody to use the armrest?
