Adjusting the idle ??

    Thanks to all who piped in on this!! I went out the next day after this post and low and behold the arrows do stop when sitting at the light. I was never worried about the brake lights using energy. This is cool. I will now concentrate on getting 644 mi on a tank. :)

    The idle adjustment screw is a few inches in front of the distributor, right by the end of the throttle cable. You have to reach around the alternator to get to it, so if it's running, be sure not to get tangled up in the drive belt.

    A ScanGauge monitoring the HV battery current will show you need to push the brake firmly while stopped to minimize current flow. Not so hard as to activate the HSA (which deactivates itself by the way) but firmly.

    Your problem is not the ICE idle speed. The Gen 3 Prius will roll from a stop when the ICE is not running, using the electric traction system. Adjusting the ICE idle speed, that is computer controlled, will have no effect.

    You need to take the wing nut off first to get the air cleaner off.
