But the 06' doesn't have a boost in gas HP to 110. HP is still the same for the gas ICE and the electric motors as in the 05'.

Thanks, but Paradox already confrmed it DOESN'T have a change in engine... Besides, you posted a 2005 spec sheet, not a 2006... ;)

Okay. A back-up camera would be nice to have. But I doubt I'd pay an extra 2 or 3 grand for it. Leather interior, for me, is a disadvantage. I prefer the feel of cloth, and the Prius cloth is exceptionally nice.

As for horsepower, speaking as someone who has driven an '04 Prius since January of '04, and recently through the mountains from Fargo to Spokane, loaded chock-a-block full of luggage, I can say that the Prius has plenty of power.

the only thing in the 06 that i would like is the aux input. but eventually we'll find something that's worth it and just install it ourselves. he likes a good challenge anyway.

Regardless of what some unethical, slimy, unscrupulous salesperson may claim in the course of making a high pressure sales pitch, the horsepower in the 06 model is identical to that in the 04 and 05.

Are you sure Frontier is selling the 2006 for MSRP? The 2005's were $3,000 over MSRP just a few weeks ago. You may want to try Hamer and Ventura Toyota. They are known to sell Prii for MSRP.

I am not sure if you dealt with same Frontier Toyota before. But the URL for the dealer that I am dealing with is Frontier Toyota They were getting 14 vehicles of 2006 shortly (less than 2 weeks) and they already got the VIN numbers of those vehicles. If this the same dealer that you are talking about then I don't know what they did in the past but right now they are offering me for sticker price for which I like them. If you guys are interested then you can call up the same dealer for prices of the vehicles of Prius 2006 packages that they are receiving shortly.

I gave my name to couple of dealers here in Socal to call me up once they receive 2006 models and so far I already got calls from 3 other dealers inquiring if I am still interested. Two of them were asking about 4000 dollars extra over sticker price and one of them was asking for compulsory upgrade of Windows tint plus Extra alloy wheels which would cost me an extra of 2500 even though I am not interested in such upgrade.

Sounds like a couple of nice Cow Boys offering a helpin hand eh?

And they wonder why they get dogged?..... I hope those guys aren't the guys I run into when I'm in a real crisis and in desperate need of something! The price might be my offspring!
But I'm sure they sleep well at night knowing they are just making an honest living for their wife and kids at home!

There is only one Frontier Toyota in the Los Angeles area. It is located in Valencia.

Based upon what I have been told about that dealership, by people I trust, and the recent experience of one of the PriusChat members, all I have to advise you is: "Watch out."

    You have been warned.

It is still 76 HP on 2006 Prius.

Online members. Thanks for the warnings and advise on this dealer. I will be extra careful with this dealer's paperwork. Acutally he showed me the VIN number and completed all the paper work for this car in front of me. He told me sticker price on this car is 29,4xx (don't remember last two digits) plus CA state tax plus offered me windows tint for 399$ which I wanted for all inclusive rate of 32 thousand change. So in order to make sure that car is reserved for me I went ahead and paid 10 grand and he mentioned that car with this VIN number will be here in less than 2 weeks of time for delivery. I also put last 8 digits of the VIN number at the back of the check just as a proof as well.

He was also offering extended warranty on the car for about 1600 dollars for 6 years package which I called and cancelled after reading these remarks about this dealer. I can only wait and see what happens when I actually take the vehicle delivery. If he puts any hidden charges at the final moment then I will backout of this deal and probably go for any consumer court if he is not willing to return my money I guess.

Hopefully that never happens (praying) and keeping the spirits high. :)

    OH.. myyy Godddddd!!!!!!!!

I'm not slamming you for your decision.. I know you really want the car and the guy is playin hardball with you....

But this dealer should be hung out to dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either you sell a man a car at a price or you don't..... its rediculous to ask for 10K before you even recieve the car!....
What was the excuse... was he afraid if you backed out of the deal he coudn't sell it?... maybe he was afraid he couldn't sell it for "as much"!.. what a jerk!!!!!!!!

Sorry you have to deal with them at all!!!!.. However I"m sure you will be fine... they are legally bound to you with 10K of your money already in thier pocket... but just assume they are shiesters and watch your back all the way!.... be nice, courteous and respectful in your communication... but don't trust them one tiny bit!....

Its obvious they are playing nasty, taking advantage of your zeal.....

Expect them to high pressure you for the extended warranty from them for some rediculous price!..... DON'T DO IT!!!

Just tell them you will consider it later and possibly come back "you have till 36K/3 years... then buy from the forum for much cheaper!!!
