Weird loud double beep every 3 minutes - bluetooth?

I have had my 06 Package 8 for 1.5 years and almost 36K miles.

Very odd, getting a loud double "bee doo" beep coming from either my stereo/bluetooth. Happens when both bluetooth is on and off. Its much louder than my radio when it happens. What the hell is this? No malfunction lights, 1/2 gas..all seems ok. I did just get an oil change a few days ago and they reset the engine oil light.

Any advice on what this could be? I know if I take it to Toyota they will say they cannot recreate the sound. I have never heard this before.

BTW - my warranty is almost up and I am getting the $900 extended one. Can I bring into Toyota and just ask to check everything to see what needs to be fixed (if anything)?

    Thanks

    Jason

I have had 28 views and no responses. Does that mean no one knows what these beeps are? Anyone recommend what I should do with my service dept since my 36K mile warranty is up soon?

    thanks

Ok, you're going to think I'm totally crazy, but because bluetooth uses so much battery power on your phone, it runs down easily. I thought my car was beeping loudly too (and maybe it was; maybe the bluetooth allows it to 'beep' with the phone, too; I don't know), and it was my darn phone dying. It was LOUD, too.

    Jason,
I would suggest that you bring the Prius to dealer and have them check it out. Even if they can't find anything wrong with it (very likely), you still have a record on their file(compute) after the warranty expires. When it gets worse in the future, you can still bring it in and demand it covered by warranty since it happened before warranty expired (based on the record of 1st time).
Buying ext warranty or not is another separate decision in my humble opinion.

    Good Luck.

That's happened with my phone when I forget to fully charge it. And the "low battery" beep makes a very loud "bee doo" sound as well.

I believe I've heard the same sound. In my case, it wasn't the "bee-doo," but rather a LOUD, single "chirp." My BT phone was engaged and charged. It happened 3 times in about 5 minutes and I couldn't figure out what in the world was causing it. No warning lights, nothing.

It hasn't happened again, so, hopefully, it was an aberration.

LOL, sorry to resurrect this thread, but I googled "prius beep every 3 minutes" and came to this thread. My phone was good and on vibrate, but I shut it off anyway. I still got the beep. I parked and shut the car off, and heard the beep again... it ended up being another battery dying phone left in my car. Funny how I found the answer to my "car problem" here without it having anything to do with my car.
