Does anyone have information on a 2006 Prius price increase??? I had a dealer tell me that Toyota just raised the base price to $22,305 from $21,725 and the Shipping (destination charge) to $580 from $540.

    IS THIS TRUE!!??!!

    Partially.
    The destination charges are correct.
The 2005 base price is $21275.
The 2006 base price is $21725, not $22305.
(Sounds like he made a math error because the difference is $580 which is the new destination charge.)

If you want to run some numbers for comparison, check out the 2006 Model Year Prius Calculator, Excel Spreadsheet and the 2005 Model Year Prius Calculator, Excel Spreadsheet. B)
This information is in the Prius calculators.

I had thought of that except my choice (2006 Prius with Option package #3 and the destination charge comes to $23,780 ($21,725 + $1,475 + $580). He quoted me $24,400 . When I called him on it he stated that Toyota raised the price and that is what accounted for the difference. I called Toyota corporate and they said they have no record of a price increase of any kind on the 2006. He clearly stated to me that the new base sticker price was $22,305 not including the $580 shipping. Am I just missing something?

It could be that he has incorrect information (if he isn't actually lying).
However, if you do not correct him, don't expect him to reduce the price by $580 back to MSRP later.
    A deal is a deal.

    You are correct.
MSRP for package #3 is $23,780, including destination charge.

To avoid personal conflict, you can now just refer him to Toyota.com . He made a mistake on the other $40, too (probably by subtracting $540 instead of $580).

When I bought mine I was told toyota would be upping the prices on the '06 so I was happy, but now I wish I would have held out if there is no price increase. Oh well.

When I bought my Prius in November 05, I was told that to get a package similar to the one I have(4), it would be about $1500 more. I can't find the same exact package as I got since they all seem to have the back-up cam. I would suspect that the tax credit that will be available would make the dealers increase their price? Just my thought.
