The mold would only take a few hours to make. Then, maybe 2-3 hours each, start to finish. I just wish I had the time to make them. The fiberglass materials would be less than $15-20 each is using poly resin and chopped strand mat - depending on how thick.

    Slick.

Im still thinking we can get something done for under $150 a box.

Worse case I go under the mat.

I've been looking at putting a JL 13TW53 or the Alpine type R shallow mount in an Atrend 13SME box in place of the rear cargo tray on top of the spare. However, having a custom fiberglass enclosure in that left side sure would open up a lot more choices for the driver. Geo, what is the volume of your enclosure? Does having it on the right make it any more difficult to get to the 12v battery?

I'm trying to avoid learning to do fiberglass, so if someone wants to start selling these, let me know!

Here is what I did to mine. It's an 8" Alpine SWR 843D Type-R. I was surprised that a little 8" can pack some pretty good bass. Powering it is the Apine PDX 1.600. You can still access the bottom storage without any issues. Material cost was about $100. But labor took awhile. I went to a few local stereo shops and they quoted roughly $300-$350 just for the custom box. I already have experience working with fiberglass and just wanted to see how much they charge for kicks. YOU CAN DO IT!

Can you give us direction on what is needed to make this box as far as materials and patience?

I wouldnt mind trying this out, but I would have to do both sides, and I have to go with 10s

could you use matching subs if the cubby holes are two different sizes? The left on is much deep since the right one has the battery in it. Maybe I'll take a look at makeign a plug this week while the kids are away at camp.
